About the Role
The North American Asset Finance team is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its analytical team in Toronto as a Senior Analyst. The successful candidate will support lead analysts in their responsibilities, primarily to manage the U.S. portfolio of project finance, infrastructure finance and sports finance credits, including the ongoing analysis and surveillance of specific credits. The Senior Analyst would also work with members of the Asset Finance team based in Toronto.
The Senior Analyst will be expected to have or to develop a solid understanding of each of the credits he/she is assigned to work on, perform financial statement analysis, use financial models, draft written reports including compilation of rating committee material, press releases and rating reports and build proficiency in overall credit analysis. In addition, the Senior Analyst will be expected to maintain a broad knowledge of industry issues and data in certain sectors. This role ultimately reports to the Managing Director of Asset Finance (based in Toronto), and also to the respective lead analysts on rating assignments to which they are assigned for the duration of such assignments.
Job Responsibilities

  • Perform financial statement analysis
  • Demonstrate a well-developed understanding of the industries
  • Provide consistently accurate credit analysis with minimal guidance and errors
  • Assist with the preparation of rating committee materials, rating reports and press releases
  • Spreadsheet modelling of debt issuers' historic results and financial projections
  • Develop understanding and experience with required legal documentation
  • Develop client-communication skills with increasing client interaction over time
  • Track key economic indicators for major industry trends and various asset performance indices
  • Research industry and asset class commentaries and reports
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures
  • Examine and analyze financial records and data to ensure accuracy in internal systems


Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Master's Degree in business, finance or a related analytical field of study
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience
  • Strong analytical abilities and extensive knowledge of financial statements
  • Understand of corporate credit analysis, including relevant credit metrics
  • Detail-oriented research abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
