Job Description

Brookfield Credit Operations is seeking a Senior Analyst for Portfolio Administration to perform portfolio accounting, reconciliation, cash forecasting, and reporting. This is an essential and foundational position for the effective functioning of Operations. Precise, organized, and highly accountable professionals are desired. A successful Senior Analyst possesses excellent math and problem-solving skills, a sound proficiency in technology (such as Outlook, Excel, Bloomberg, Blackrock Aladdin and Clearwater), and a strong customer service approach.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Intermediate understanding of financial markets and investment vehicles (e.g., Securitized Products, Corporate Bonds, Equities, Derivatives, Bank Loans, Alternatives).
  • Facilitator of Brookfield’s existing cash management and forecasting function, ensuring the Investment Team is provided with accurate cash balances, daily.
  • Coordinate with Portfolio Manager, Traders and Third-Party Asset Managers, to provide excellent customer service to the Investments and Investment Accounting departments.
  • Ensure internal and external reconciliations are performed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Requires close and frequent communication (email and phone) with counterparts at custodial banks and internal settlement team.
  • Make recommendations to improve reconciliations performed as well as create additional reconciliations, as needed.
  • Ensure all necessary steps are taken for other operational activities over an account lifecycle, such as contributions/withdrawals, audit requests, and account terminations.
  • Develop relationships and partner with internal departments to improve upon Brookfield’s Portfolio Administration department.
  • Initiates process improvements and leads efforts to improve upon recurring tasks.
  • Serves as initial escalation for process issues and reconciliation breaks.
  • Assist with training and mentorship efforts for junior team members.
  • As/where necessary, be prepared to support both managerial and staff responsibilities to ensure the Portfolio Administration and Trade Support teams are successful in performing their daily responsibilities and functions.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory and industry changes that may/will impact the Portfolio Administration.
  • Follow existing KPIs, SLAs and management dashboard guidance aimed at ensuring the critical functions are complete and accurate.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
  • 5+ years’ experience working for an asset management firm or hedge fund in middle and back office operations.
  • Familiarity with/knowledge of BlackRock Aladdin, Bloomberg, Clearwater, SOX/SOC 1 control framework, Data Visualization Tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), Reconciliation Software (e.g., DUCO), SWIFT messaging, Corporate Actions, Collateral Management, Fixed Income, Derivatives and Data Governance preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:

  • CFA preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   

  • Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and other outside third parties.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical/operational procedures.
