The Senior Analyst, Data Foundations & Infrastructure, is accountable for development and maintenance of key foundational datasets to enable timely, relevant, and comprehensive reporting and analysis in support of the BMO Commercial Bank.  This role performs complex end-to-end analysis to support business requirements. The Senior Analyst, Data Foundations & Infrastructure, will develop and maintain standard reports and analyze and identify key trends for the BMO Commercial Bank line of business.  The role is responsible for performing data extraction, aggregation, transformation, management, and quality reviews of data from multiple data sources for use in reporting and analytics.  Data quality is key, and any identified issues should have a well-defined remediation plan in place. The role requires strong communication skills to work with business partners to explain trends as well as the source of data utilized in reporting.  Strong documentation around processes and reporting is required.   

This role will also collaborate with members of key BMO Commercial groups to ensure that data is provided as required on a timely basis. 
 

Knowledge

  • University degree in math, finance, economics or business-related field
  • 3-5+ years of direct experience in a related role within the financial services industry with a focus on data management and analytics
  • Strong knowledge of database programs (SQL)
  • Knowledge and experience in data preparation, and data analysis
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of key financial products and P&L related processes.
  • Solid knowledge of planning, coordinating, multi-tasking, and analysis
     

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and management skills
  • Proven ability to create, manipulate and extract information from large data sets
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills
  • Strong troubleshooting/problem solving abilities.
  • Experience designing and developing ETL processes would be beneficial
  • Experience with SAS development would be beneficial
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight timeframes
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
     

Responsibilities

A. Data Management 

  • Act as the subject matter expert on the development and management of BMO Commercial Bank data and provide guidance to respond to the evolving needs of the business
  • Develop business and system specifications relating to performance monitoring, dashboard feeds and other data initiatives
  • Oversee all major data production problems through to resolution.  Identify and recommend appropriate controls to prevent reoccurrence of issues
  • Building data quality checks into developed applications and process
     

B. Monthly Revenue Processing

  • Maintain effective relationship with internal partners, and reporting & analytics teams
  • Developing robust processes to produce revenue data set processing
  • Reviews financial information for reasonableness and highlights/escalates areas of interest or concern
  • Prepare manual adjustments as needed
  • Accountable of the revenue data set processing production
     

C. Analytics

  • Review and resolve data issues, utilizing appropriate analytical approaches
  • Conduct analytics for new products and processes, understand key implications from the output and develop recommendations to enhance data set processing
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. 
     

D. Technical Support

  • Problems / errors are thoroughly investigated and resolved in a timely manner by involving the appropriate IT and business specialists.
  • Preparation or implementation of processes / applications into and automated production environment
  • Administration of applications / systems to ensure functionality, availability, performance and security are maintained
  • Identify business and technical stakeholders needed to provide requirements

Salary:

$54,500.00 - $101,500.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
