The opportunity

The Senior Analyst, Collateral & Liquidity Operations provides support to the Collateral & Liquidity Operations team, including but not limited to Investment Operations, Performance & Risk Analytics, and Compliance. The successful candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of Investment Operations processes and a high level of knowledge within their assigned area.

This role provides direct support to the Manager in the operation of the team, including the execution of daily and monthly activities, troubleshooting, ad hoc projects, and ensuring controls are maintained and adhered to throughout all processes. The role has key responsibilities for maintaining process coverage through cross-training and overseeing the successful completion of daily operational activities. This position carries a high degree of responsibility, as the value of transactions processed is significant, and errors could result in substantial losses to the fund that may not be recoverable.

Who you'll work with

The Senior Analyst reports to the Manager, Collateral & Liquidity Operations. They will collaborate with members of Investment Technology and Investments as well as external clients, service providers, consultants and vendors in the delivery of business as usual and projects, to meet the Plan's changing requirements. Critical duties must be carried out and completed same day.

What you'll do

1. Execute daily work within Collateral & Liquidity Operations unit:

  • Determines and completes critical priorities for the day

  • Identifies and analyzes issues and problems

  • Determines and carries out appropriate solutions for issues and problems

  • Works with team members to ensure all critical priorities for the team are completed in the day

  • Provide assistance to the team on complex issues

  • Share knowledge with other team members

  • Back up team members during absences

  • Ensures up to date documentation

2. Verifies information and upholds controls

  • Checks and reconciles information to ensure accuracy

  • Applies controls, checks and balances

  • Follows up on discrepancies and resolves discrepancies

3. Produces reports

  • Generates standard reports

  • Analyzes requests for non-standard reports and designs/delivers reports

4. Acts as a resource on projects for the department under the guidance of the Manager

  • Supports projects and identifies needs.

  • Carries out project tasks.

  • Liaises with IT Investments as needed on systems related projects

  • Documents processes.

5. Identifies and carries out improvements for the unit

  • Actively identifies and recommends efficiency improvements

  • Investigates and implements improvements

6. Supports management in researching, identifying and documenting the characteristics and attributes of new products, programs or processes.

  • Identifies procedural/process changes and requirements

  • Provides recommendations for procedures and processes

  • Develops and implements tests plans

  • Documents processes

7. Services internal clients

  • Provides information and services to internal clients

  • Responds to inquiries and requests from internal clients

  • Deals with internal clients in a professional and timely manner

8. Deals with internal and external suppliers

  • Provides information and requests information as needed to established suppliers (eg. Custodian, Counterparties, Systems providers, etc.)

9. Other

  • Investigates system handling of products including testing of problems and testing of new systems

  • Analyzes and implements new processes and systems

  • Maximizes the use of technology in all work processes

  • Provides constructive ideas relative to the Board's operations

  • Documents (including complex aspects of products, processes and systems)

  • Maintains personal awareness and current knowledge of issues affecting the Board's operations

  • Represents OTPP in a professional manner

  • Trains team members as required

  • Backs up team members during absences

  • Other duties as requested

What you'll need
  • Relevant university degree (such as Business, Economics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent relevant experience with Investment Finance processes

  • Requires an individual with in-depth experience in Investment Operations processes (2 years or more)

  • Proven experience in Collateral Operations environment

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think through problems, assess a variety of factors and recommend a solution

  • Advanced quantitative and computer skills (e.g. Excel, SQL, VBA, Python), including an understanding of database concepts and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI)

  • Good background skills and knowledge of accounting and reconciliation processes

  • Must be able to work to deadlines, adapt to a rapidly changing environment and sustain high productivity levels

  • Must be extremely detail oriented, organized and thorough

  • Self starter, confident, innovative, team player

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Must be able to effectively deal with internal and external clients and suppliers

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Enrollment in the CFA program an asset

What we’re offering

This position is eligible for base salary and annual incentive based on individual and enterprise performance.  Base Salary starting at $89,500 with future opportunity of up to $101,900.
