Job Description
As a Sr Analyst, Investment Operations you will support either the public or private Investment teams with transaction management, asset servicing, investment accounting, reporting and valuations. You will also assist with the day-to-day evaluation, accounting, and monitoring of relevant investment portfolios, covering all asset classes and security types.
Team Description
The Collateral Management team is part of the Public Markets Middle Office within Technology and Operations. The team oversees daily margining activities, including collateral exchange for Exchange-Traded Products, OTC Derivatives, Centrally Cleared Derivatives, Repos, Prime Brokerage, Securities Lending, and margin loans. This critical function ensures the mitigation of credit risk between parties and minimizes the effects of potential defaults.
Accountabilities
- Partner with colleagues from the Investment Departments, Finance, Legal, and Risk to assist in investment closings through documentation review, system setups, transaction entries and settlements.
- Assist in daily trading and deal activity to facilitate settlement and cash related events.
- Support and manage lifecycle of transactions and deal pipeline and asset servicing; ensure investments are accurately always represented, track upcoming activity, reconcile records, and process activities.
- Assist in processing complex investments with the ability to understand impact on trading, portfolio construction, reporting and performance.
- Assist in the quarterly/ monthly valuation review; ensure valuation adjustments are accurately recorded and bring any errors/ inconsistencies to management’s attention. Provide insightful valuation analysis.
- Identify and promptly escalate irregular activities or issues and assist management in determining corrective action.
- Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures.
- Continually strive for operational excellence; seek ways to streamline processes and create operational efficiencies. Maintain an ongoing effective working relationship with internal investment staff and external asset managers to ensure issues are discussed and resolved, operational and financial controls and reporting requirements are met.
- Manage day to day start of day and end of day positions and recordkeeping for Investment book of record and sub-ledgers.
- Manage daily margining processes by exchanging collateral, resolving disputes on a timely basis
- Identify and implement process improvements, including opportunities for automation and straight through processing
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Professional designations such as a CBV, CFA, CPA are considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, financial and management accounting skills will be necessary to perform this role.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfortable learning new systems.
- Experience with SQL, Python is considered an asset
- Experience with Bloomberg, Murex, FIS Apex, SimCorp, Cassini, Trioptima, Acadiasoft is considered an asset
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think through problems, assess a variety of factors and recommend a solution
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Adapt to rapidly changing business and technology environments
- Self-motivated, flexible, adaptable
