Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals and journal entries
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare and process payroll
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Manage HST/GST filings and other regulatory remittances
- Assist in month-end and year-end close procedures
- Support the preparation of financial statements and working papers for external accountants or auditors
- Monitor cash flow and prepare weekly/monthly cash reports
- Maintain organized and up-to-date accounting records in compliance with policies and procedures
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Identify and recommend process improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting
- Payroll experience
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, NetSuite, etc.)
- Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP and tax regulations
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with financial reports
- High attention to detail, organizational skills, and confidentiality
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience in a small to mid-sized business or startup environment
- Familiarity with payroll systems and HR processes
- Working towards CPA designation (an asset, not required)
