About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team and oversee the back office accounting operations of our Canadian arm with precision and efficiency. This role involves managing the monthly close process, weekly accounts payable, weekly accounts receivable, daily/weekly cash posting as well as monthly reconciliations, cross department collaboration, as well as collaboration and contact with customers and vendors. The ideal candidate has expert knowledge of Canadian taxes, specifically payroll and GST/HST tax preparation and submission as well as experience with year end audit work paper preparation and reconciliation.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and own full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain general ledger, reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts monthly, and prepare journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including sales tax reporting and payroll filings.
  • Assist with audits, tax preparations, and year-end closing.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, Xero and SalesForce a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience with payroll processing and tax filings.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Experience with vendor payments and customer collections a must.

Preferred Skills

  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in SaaS and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and financial analytics tools.
  • Experience with GST/HST and tax filings.
  • Experience with payroll tax preparation and reporting.
