Job Description:

The Sales & Marketing Excellence Manager role is viewed a key developmental position for sales professionals who want to advance their career into more senior Commercial leadership roles.

A primary focus is on leading the support of business processes, tools and systems that support the efficient and effective operations of the Ipsen Canada field force.  This includes territory planning, territory operations, National Sales Meeting (NSM) planning, selling competencies and product and disease knowledge support.   In addition, the position is responsible for coordinating local activities related to brand planning and marketing training.

As a result, the role has broad organizational visibility which provides an excellent opportunity for personal and professional development.

Summary

The Sales and Marketing Excellence Manager is responsible for leading activities related to the development, management and continuous improvement of core selling capabilities.  The primary focus will be on establishing the foundational support business processes, tools and systems that support the efficient and effective operations of the Ipsen Canada field force.  This will include territory planning & reporting, territory operations and National Sales Meeting (NSM) planning.  In addition, this role will lead the local adaption and implementation of key Global Business Excellence programs related to Selling Excellence and the Omnichannel Customer Experience. 

The critical success factor for this mandate is the ability to effectively manage projects that involve multiple cross-functional stakeholders.  This requires the Sales and Marketing Excellence Manager to excel at pro-actively driving consensus and alignment at all levels of the organization.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the following Ipsen sales capabilities:

    • Key Account Planning

    • Territory KPI Reporting

    • Customer Targeting

    • Ipsen Sales Call Model

    • Product & Disease Knowledge

    • Sales Incentive Compensation Program

  • Leading the localization and implementation of key Global and NA Business Excellence programs associated with:

    • CRM System Improvements

    • Omnichannel Capabilities

    • On-Boarding Process

    • Sales Excellence Capabilities

    • Marketing Excellence Capabilities

  • Leading and managing cross-functional planning activities, in close partnership with the Business Operations Specialist, for all aspects of sales meetings with a focus on driving alignment with:

    • Brand Strategy & Objectives

    • Field Force Learning & Development Requirements

    • Ipsen Selling Frameworks

    • Project Development Timelines

  • Leveraging deep understanding of sales operations to internally advocate for the needs of the sales force

  • Providing support for forecasting and analytics activities

  • Cultivating meaningful internal partnerships, adding value and insights for the organization

  • Managing relationships with relevant external vendors to support sales and marketing excellence initiatives

  • Supporting on-boarding of new sales employees

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience with a minimum of 2 years of sales experience required.

  • Must have in-depth experience with structured sales force support business processes and systems.

  • Understands the roles and accountabilities of cross-functional partners within a pharmaceutical company.

  • Understands the importance of business processes and leverages processes to affect change and to achieve excellence in execution.

  • Communicates data, insights and concepts with clarity, impact and passion.

  • Recognizes and adapts to peoples' differing communication styles and preferences.

  • Positively challenges and persuades internal and external customers to reach mutually beneficial agreements.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Effectively leads or persuades others without direct authority, including Ipsen cross-functional partners, Global contacts and external partners.

  • Fosters an open and collaborative dialogue with all associated field roles to support the identification and rapid response to changing business requirements and field needs.

  • Bilingual (French and English) capabilities would be an asset
