Develop and maintain enterprise Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models, datasets, and data transformations. Translate business requirements into actionable reporting solutions using DAX, Power Query, SQL, and dimensional modeling. Integrate enterprise data sources, validate reporting accuracy, optimize performance, apply security and governance standards, maintain documentation and lineage, troubleshoot issues, and support stakeholders through training and analytics guidance. Collaborate with data engineering, architecture, product, and business teams in Agile delivery environments.
Role Overview:
- The Government of Ontario is undertaking a large-scale Data
& AI transformation initiative, with the Ontario Data Platform (ODP)
serving as the enterprise technology ecosystem for data-driven decision-making,
analytics, and artificial intelligence. ODP provides a modern and scalable data
environment that supports data ingestion, storage, processing, governance,
quality, marketplace capabilities, and advanced analytics across ministries and
government organizations.
- We are seeking a Power BI Developer to support the
development, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise reporting and analytics
solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with business
stakeholders, data engineers, architects, and product teams to deliver
insightful dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that enable
evidence-based decision-making across government programs and services.
Requirements
Experience and Skill Set Requirements:
Must Haves:
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems,
Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
- Experience developing dashboards, reports, and
visualizations using Microsoft Power BI.
- Strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query (M), and Power BI data
modeling concepts.
- Experience working with SQL and relational databases.
- Understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and
business intelligence best practices.
- Experience working with large datasets and transforming
complex business requirements into reporting solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication
skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and
non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, star schema
design, and analytical data modelling concepts.
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data
lineage principles.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with Databricks, including connecting
Power BI to Databricks SQL Warehouses and Lakehouse data sources.
- Familiarity with Azure Data Platform services such as Azure
Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, or Microsoft
Fabric.
- Experience with enterprise data governance and data quality
initiatives.
- Knowledge of Python, R, or other analytics tools.
- Experience supporting data and analytics platforms within a
large public-sector or enterprise environment.
- Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies and DevOps
practices.

- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI
dashboards and reports to support business and operational needs.

- Support ad hoc data analysis and reporting requests from
business stakeholders.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and user acceptance
testing (UAT) activities to ensure reporting accuracy and integrity.

- Monitor and optimize report performance, data refresh
schedules, and workspace administration.
- Apply security models, row-level security (RLS), and
governance standards within Power BI.
- Troubleshoot data, visualization, and performance issues and
provide ongoing support to users.

and reporting standards.
