We're looking for a Senior Robotics Controls Designer specializing in Whole Body Control (WBC) and Model Predictive Control (MPC) is a leadership role focused on developing advanced, real-time control software for complex robotic systems, such as humanoids, that coordinate numerous joints and sensors to perform dynamic tasks like balancing, walking, and manipulation while managing physical constraints.

What you'll do

  • Algorithm Development: Lead the design and implementation of sophisticated control algorithms, including nonlinear Model Predictive Control (MPC) and Whole Body Control (WBC) methods, for dynamic locomotion, balancing, and dexterous manipulation.
  • System Integration: Bridge the gap between low-level hardware (actuators, sensors) and high-level AI/planning systems, ensuring seamless integration and software architecture excellence.
  • Optimization and Testing: Formulate and solve optimal control problems in real-time. Conduct rigorous testing and validation of control algorithms both in high-fidelity simulation and directly on physical robots to ensure performance, stability, and safety.
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, lead complex technical initiatives, and drive software engineering best practices within the team.
  • System Identification & Calibration: Perform detailed system identification and calibration of full-body kinematics, dynamics, and sensors to ensure optimal control performance.

What you'll need to get the job done

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience
  • Strong proficiency in C++
  • Deep understanding of control theory, including nonlinear control and Model Predictive Control (MPC).
  • Hands-on experience with Whole Body Control (WBC) concepts for multi-DOF robotic platforms.
  • Strong background in robot kinematics and dynamics, with experience validating controllers in simulation and on real hardware.
  • Experience formulating and solving real-time optimization problems for control applications.

What will make us REALLY love you

  • Experience with humanoid or legged robots and dynamic locomotion.
  • Familiarity with robotics simulation tools and physics engines.
  • Experience with system identification and calibration techniques.
  • Exposure to robot middleware (e.g., ROS or similar).

This posting is for an active vacancy.
