Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month Contractor opening for an AI Researcher.

About the team:

Founded in 2012, the Noah’s Ark lab has evolved into a prominent research organization with notable achievements in academia and industry. The lab’s mission focuses on advancing artificial intelligence and related fields to benefit the company and society. Driven by impactful, long-term projects, the aim is to enhance state-of-the-art research while integrating innovations into the company's products and services, including LLMs, RL, NLP, computer vision, AI theory, and Autonomous driving.

About the job:

  • Use your deep understanding of CV, ML, NLP and AI to tackle meaningful technical problems, collaborate with the most innovative product development team in the world and transfer your ideas into solutions in the next generation of Huawei products.

  • Conceive, plan, develop and implement scientific research projects to advance scientific knowledge in business-relevant areas.

  • Conduct academic & applied research with a collaborative team of researchers by developing core algorithms and platforms of computer vision to enhance the core competitiveness and user experience of Huawei's related products.

  • Generate high-quality patents and/or academic publications in the areas of applied ML, computer vision and graphics (e.g. CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NeurIPS etc.)

  • Guide and manage the processes including data collection, processing, model training, testing.

  • Develop highly-optimized, compact models for real-time processing.

About the ideal candidate:

  • Ph.D. or Masters in Computer Science Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Expertise in at least one area of visual image enhancement, video/image processing, generative models, agents.

  • A passion for creating innovative techniques, and making them robust and scalable for real-world scenarios.

  • Solid programming skills with C++ and/or Java and/or Python, familiar Pytorch.

  • Self-motivated and able to adapt to new problem domain quickly.

  • Proven track of record in top academic conferences/publications (i.e., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV , NeurIPS, ICLR, etc.).

  • Experience with AI agent-related projects.

  • Experience with Android or other mobile systems.
