The Research Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of market research projects, ensuring high-quality insights that drive client decision-making.
This role plays a key part in translating client needs into well-executed research, managing project teams, and contributing to the development of scalable, high-impact research programs.
It is critical in ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery while strengthening client confidence and enabling long-term, scalable research partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Create clarity within project teams by defining roles, responsibilities, and handoffs to avoid duplication and gaps
- Support the development of Analysts through coaching, feedback, and role modeling
- Foster a team environment where Analysts feel safe to raise questions, share feedback, and contribute ideas to improve research outcomes and enable high performance
Project Delivery & Client Management
- Own day-to-day delivery of assigned projects from kickoff through closeout, ensuring timelines, quality, and client expectations are met
- Act as a key point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Develop a strong understanding of client objectives, study context, and therapeutic area to ensure research execution and outputs are relevant and decision-focused
- Ensure research designs are executed accurately and consistently
- Deliver clear, concise, and impactful communication to clients, including presentations and written outputs, to support understanding and action
- Partner with Research Directors to ensure insights are aligned to broader account objectives
- Manage multiple projects in parallel, ensuring prioritization and consistent delivery across timelines
- Proactively identify and escalate delivery risks that may impact timelines, financial tracking, or client commitments, proposing mitigation options where appropriate
- Maintain accurate project status updates to support forecasting and revenue planning
Operational Excellence
- Manage project timelines, scope, and resources to avoid over-servicing and rework
- Monitor Out of Pocket (OOP) spend and internal effort against project budgets, escalating risks and trade-offs as needed
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements to enhance delivery speed, quality, and team productivity
- Partner with Innovation and Research Operations teams to implement centrally defined efficiency initiatives and ways of working
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Ensure standardized processes, tools, and templates are applied consistently and correctly across assigned projects
- Lead adoption of new products, tools, and ways of working within assigned projects, ensuring smooth implementation and team alignment
- Provide feedback on tools and processes to support continuous improvement and scalability
Key Skills, Knowledge & Professional Education
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (i.e. life sciences, business, marketing)
- 3-5+ years’ experience in healthcare/market research or related fields
- Proven experience managing research projects end-to-end
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to balance quality, speed, and cost in delivery decisions
- Comfort operating in structured, evolving research environments
- Experience working on multi-country or international research studies is a plus
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with SPSS, Tableau, and Google Slides is a bonus.
