The Role:

Rakuten Kobo is looking for a contract React Native Developer to work on our Reading and Listening applications. You'll be joining an international team composed of other React Native, iOS, and Android developers working to build new features and maintain a best in class reading/listening experience for our customers. We're a fun-loving, continuously-learning, help-each-other group and we're looking for someone who can jump right in.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with your team to build, update, and maintain React Native features for Rakuten Kobo's iOS and Android mobile applications
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers and other developers to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards
  • Debug and resolve technical issues, including performance bottlenecks, crashes, and other bugs
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members

Requirements

  • Proven experience in developing mobile applications
  • 3-5 years working with React Native
  • Strong proficiency in Javascript, TypeScript, and modern front-end development tools
  • Familiarity with native build tools, like Xcode, Android Studio, and Gradle
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and integrating with backend services
  • Understanding of mobile UI/UX design principles and best practices
  • Knowledge of state management libraries, such as Redux or MobX
  • Experience with Git version control and collaborative development workflows
  • Ability to write unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality code
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
