Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets are undertaking the design, build, and finance of the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

The MEP Quality Lead, is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality control and assurance across all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works within the project. This role involves verifying compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality management plans, while coordinating inspections, documentation, and corrective actions. The MEP Quality Lead will work closely with the MEP team, subcontractors, and third-party testing agencies to maintain strict adherence to project requirements and regulatory standards.

The salary range for this position is $100,000 CAD- $135,000 CAD, plus additional benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the MEP team and relevant subcontractors to ensure strict adherence to quality control and assurance standards across all project activities.
  • Confirm that all site work aligns with approved Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, shop drawings, work method statements, the Construction Quality Management Plan (CQMP), and corresponding Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure all ITP line items are signed off promptly upon completion, with supporting documentation prepared and submitted without delay.
  • Maintain accurate records by documenting and closing ITPs immediately after activity completion, and coordinate with the Document Control team for timely uploads.
  •  Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for any work or material that fails to meet project requirements, and work with relevant teams to propose corrective actions and close NCRs within stipulated timelines.
  • Schedule inspections and testing of construction materials with accredited third-party testing agencies.
  • Verify that all materials delivered to the site meet project specifications and quality standards.
  • Attend site-specific meetings to provide updates and address quality-related concerns.
  • Share feedback, alerts, and best practices internally and externally to foster a strong quality culture throughout the project.
  • Track actual work progress against the schedule and report any delays to the Construction Quality Control Manager for timely resolution.
  • Assist in preparing internal, JV partner, and client reports on quality aspects of the project.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve quality-related issues effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce clear, detailed reports as required.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure seamless coordination and project success.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years as a Quality Inspector on transit infrastructure projects; experience in Ontario is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture, or Certified Engineering Technologist designation.
  • Hands-on experience with Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), American Concrete Institute (ACI) standards, TTC and Metrolinx specifications, and familiarity with the Construction Administration and Inspection Task Manual.
  • Proven experience working with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality assurance processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel); experience with document management platforms such as SharePoint, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM360, ProjectWise, or Procore is an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment and willingness to work reasonable additional hours when required.
  • Comfortable standing or walking for extended periods in site conditions.
