We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Quality Control Manager to help ensure every Smith Blade meets the highest standards of precision and craftsmanship. This role will lead inspection processes, build strong quality systems, and work closely with manufacturing and assembly teams to catch issues early and keep production running smoothly. If you enjoy solving problems, improving processes, and obsessing over the details, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll DoQuality System Development
- Develop and implement quality control procedures and standards.
- Establish inspection protocols for incoming materials, in-process manufacturing, and finished goods.
- Create and maintain documentation for quality procedures, inspection criteria, and reporting.
Production Quality Assurance
- Oversee all product inspection activities including:
- Incoming material inspection
- In-process inspection
- Final product inspection
- Ensure manufactured products consistently meet design specifications and tolerances.
- Work closely with manufacturing, assembly, and engineering teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Track key quality metrics such as:
- First Pass Yield
- Defect Rate
- Scrap Rate
- Rework Rate
- Analyze quality data to identify trends and drive process improvements.
- Maintain quality records and inspection reports.
Team Leadership
- May supervise quality inspectors as the team grows
- Collaborate with assembly supervisors and manufacturing leadership to ensure quality expectations are clearly communicated across the manufacturing organization.
The QC personnel will be highly skilled professionals, possessing excellent attention to detail and strong mechanical aptitude. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
Qualifications- 3+ years of experience in quality control or quality assurance in a manufacturing environment
- Experience implementing quality systems and inspection processes
- Understanding of GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with precision measurement tools and inspection equipment
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Experience in a startup environment
- High Volume work experience
- Experience in a factory or shop environment

You must be legally allowed to work in Canada and be local or willing to relocate. This role is based in Cambridge, Ontario and telecommuting is not an option.
Salary Range:
$60,000 - $75,000 depending on experience.
