Job Summary

Position Objective:
Responsible for coordinating actions and activities of the quality auditors, lab personnel and inspectors. Support manufacturing engineering, purchasing and customer corrective actions.

Job Description

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision of Inspector and Calibration Inspector personnel. Supervise employee work groups across all shifts and skill matrix to provide effective inspection and auditing based on work volumes. Validate timecards and ensure productivity standards.
  • Train and evaluate new and transferred employees in job related responsibilities and competencies thru internal, external and on the job training. 
  • Attend production meetings to identify priority of projects.
  • Supervise the Material Review Board activities to insure prompt recognition, discussion and resolution of non-conformances.
  • Successfully operate the document control system to manage creation, revision, storage and distribution of Quality related documents.
  • Supervise calibration laboratory system per the contractual and customer requirements.
  • Participate in Safety and Lean initiatives and improve metrics for employee safety.
  • Adopt and propagate 3Q6S principals throughout the organization.
  • Create and report on operational metrics for the work group and obtain and use internal customer feedback to drive improvements
  • Plan and operate a non-conforming material process that drives for root cause elimination of defects thru a corrective action process while obtaining timely disposition of product.
  • Use statistical analysis tools for identification of opportunities.
  • Interact with Manufacturing Engineering to provide work methods and procedures for successful manufacturing operations.
  • Participate in Procurement & Supplier Quality on issues impacting manufacturing operations.
  • Follow and improve Quality Control Plans and PPAP’s for new products and implement lean manufacturing and error proofing strategies on the production floor. This includes support of Process FMEA completion.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering group for corrective action responses to customers and to advance the quality system.
  • Participate in product warranty process and failure analysis of product.
  • Collaborate in New Product Development to formulate deliverable objectives to NPD gate reviews to improve product reliability and lower warranty costs.
  • Perform reporting activities to the Quality Assurance Manager and other management positions.
  • Travel up to 10% is required to support business and divisional efforts.

Experience/Skills:

  • Three to five years’ experience in manufacturing with a minimum of one year in a Quality.
  • Previous leadership in either managerial or supervisory role. 
  • Experience in a union environment is a plus.
  • ASQ certification suggested.
  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma knowledge and experience helpful.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills required.
  • Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Spanish as a second language is beneficial.
  • Must be a US citizen for positions at the North Mankato facility.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
