Job Description:

About the Role:

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor for a 12-month contract role in our Richmond Hill, ON, facility, a leading manufacturer of aseptic products. In this role, you will lead the execution of quality assurance programs that support product quality, food safety, and sanitation while ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The position provides leadership to the quality team, oversees scheduling and training activities, offers technical guidance, and drives the effective management of quality systems, audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:

  • Supervise and develop the Quality Assurance team and ensure scheduling needs are met.
  • Provide leadership and technical assistance to help resolve quality-related problems.
  • Oversee, implement, and maintain QA programs, including Formula Control, Allergen Control, Non-Conforming Products, Recalls, Food Safety Plans, and pest control systems.
  • Define and enforce laboratory practices and quality policies.
  • Ensure compliance with company and governmental sanitation regulations.
  • Collaborate with R&D to improve product quality and cost-effectiveness, support product changes, and oversee plant testing.
  • Monitor raw material compliance and manage supplier communications.
  • Provide quality and food safety training for employees at all levels.
  • Conduct GMP and sanitation audits and summarize technical data to identify trends and corrective actions.
  • Support quality systems and initiatives such as SPC, SQF, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Lead efforts to resolve quality-related issues, including customer complaints, product holds, and incidents.
  • Maintain and oversee food safety regulatory programs.
  • Serve as the plant liaison for regulatory authorities, including governmental agencies and third-party auditors.
  • Analyze and interpret microbiological results and initiate corrective actions.
  • Lead and collaborate with other departments on continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Important Details:

  • This is a full-time contract role on First Shift. Occasional flexibility is required to support alternate shifts and weekends.
  • The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $76,200.00 - 114,200.00 CAD annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award, bonus and equity

You’ll fit right in if you have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment is required.
  • SQF Practitioner certification and Food Defense Program leadership experience are preferred.
  • Experience auditing quality systems and manufacturing practices is required.
  • Experience ensuring documentation requirements are followed to meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements is required.
  • Experience developing and conducting employee training is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and analytical skills are required.
