Domain Director, Quality Engineering – Payments, Treasury Products, and Services & Implementations
Role Summary
The Director, Quality Engineering for Payments, Treasury Products, and Services & Implementations is accountable for end to end quality across transaction platforms, treasury product capabilities, and client onboarding/implementation efforts. This role provides senior engineering leadership to embed quality early and consistently across product delivery and client facing execution through prevention focused practices, data informed test strategy, and strong delivery controls. The objective is consistent release confidence, client readiness, and operational stability across this domain.
Reporting Line & Scope
• Reports to: Head of C&IB Quality Engineering
• Leads: QE Managers / Senior Managers, QE Leads, Architects, ICs (employees and contractors)
• Scope: Payments platforms, treasury product capabilities, and services/implementation delivery; onshore/offshore teams; vendor engagement as applicable
• Key partners: Engineering Leaders, Product Leadership, Services & Implementation Leaders, Architecture, Platform Engineering, DevOps/SRE, Risk & Control

Quality expectations must align to business criticality, production impact, and client experience.
Key Accountabilities
• Own quality outcomes across payments processing, treasury products, and services/implementations
• Define and execute integrated test strategies covering product builds, configurations, and client onboarding activities
• Establish release and implementation readiness standards aligned to change risk and client impact
• Drive intelligent, data driven automation strategies focused on high risk and repeatable scenarios
• Ensure strong delivery governance, risk visibility, and audit ready execution practices
• Lead managers, capacity planning, and vendor accountability across the domain
Responsibilities
• Set domain testing standards across functional, integration, and non functional validation
• Partner early with engineering, product, and services leaders to improve requirements clarity and testability
• Coordinate with platform and enablement teams to mitigate environment and test data constraints
• Lead root cause analysis for production issues and client escalations; drive systemic remediation
• Provide leadership reporting on quality posture, readiness, and delivery risk
Success Measures
• Reduced production and post implementation client defects
• Improved release and implementation readiness confidence
• Increased automation effectiveness and improved signal quality
• Fewer late cycle surprises and escalations
• Improved operational stability across payments and treasury solutions
Qualifications
• 15+ years in Quality Engineering / Software Engineering
• 8–10+ years leading managers and enterprise scale delivery
• Strong experience with automation at scale, complex integrations, and CI/CD quality practices
• Proven ability to influence senior engineering and product leaders

  • Leads the strategic implementation of all QA activities and processes for major or multiple software products or systems.
  • Ensures that the performance and quality products are in line with best practice. Evaluates emerging trends for potential implementation.
  • Champions quality and drives increased efficiency and effectiveness related to how we delivery testing. Partners with peers to ensure that the software development standards and practices related to quality are ingrained in any and all software design and development.
  • Partner internally with testing teams and with partners to solve problems and improve processes. Escalates concerns and potential solutions to senior management as appropriate.
  • Interpret testing results with both a business and technical lens to make a final implementation recommendation. Reports to senior management on the results of software testing prior to implementation.

In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
