Are you the person we are looking for? 

The QNX Team is looking for developers with networking driver expertise.  You will be part of a team responsible for the functionality and performance of QNX’s embedded ethernet device drivers and networking stack on some of the most advanced hardware platforms available.  Your work on high quality ethernet communications will be vital to QNX partners and customers in several industry segments including automotive, medical, industrial manufacturing and consumer products.

The ideal candidate is an individual with an understanding of how embedded operating systems and device drivers work, how ethernet drivers work with peripheral devices and how CPU architectures/ specific hardware platforms affect OS functionality and performance.  The candidate should be able to debug complex problems and must possess the ability to implement new features and update existing ones.  The candidate will work in a team to create these ethernet drivers along with the integration with the network.

You will:

  • Work with the Network Development team to analyze and develop new drivers and features, investigate and resolve customer reported problems and provide support for experimental software.
  • Develop and optimize ethernet drivers with continuous improvements in coverage and efficiency
  • Provide solid traceability from software requirements to test specifications to test cases to test results
  • Work with network driver testers to develop test plans for your development
  • Analyze test results, debugging observed issues, generation of defect reports, verifying fixed issues, updating pre-existing defect reports.
  • Create test reports based on test results for internal and external audiences with high attention to detail.

You will have:

  • Intermediate or Senior level experience in embedded design and engineering
  • Proven experience as a C developer in an embedded environment as well as experience with ethernet and IP technologies, including VPN, routing, bridging.
  • Ability to work and participate in a team setting with an open, collaborative communication style
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills are necessary
  • Degree in computer science, engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with performance, memory, and postmortem analysis.
  • Knowledge of POSIX based operating system
  • Knowledge and experience in some of the following; socket APIs, networking stacks, IPv6, network device drivers, network provisioning and debugging, network protocol analysis, firewalls.

It would be great if you have:

  • Working knowledge of Python, Perl and/or shell scripting
  • Working knowledge of QNX or other embedded operating system
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills
  • Familiarity with common processor architectures (x86/ARM)
  • Familiarity with virtual machines and guest OS techniques
  • Ability to work with H/W of various types including integration of drivers with BSP components
