- Purchases raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies for a group of products/functions.
- Develops supply sources by interviewing potential suppliers, visiting current vendors to improve relations and assessing supply facilities and negotiating price.
- Participates as a strategic liaison with the relevant suppliers to ensure raw material requirements are satisfied.
- Identify, plan and develop projects which reflect continuous improvement and offer cost savings to the division including recommendations for appropriate purchasing procedural changes or updates.
- Actively involved with ensuring departmental KPI's are established, measured and achieved.
- Champion cross-functional teams for system and process improvements.
- Negotiate, order and expedite purchase order contracts.
- Support QMS by ensuring processes are followed, ICARS are remedied in a timely manner.
- Provide instruction, guidance and leadership to department utilizing the Magna Employee Charter. Responsible for managing and appraising team member job performance and recommending corrective action.
- Observes all Federal/Provincial Regulations including standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as Policies and Procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Full compliance with all administrative / clerical requirements within MDV as well as compliance with current Customer standards and procedures / quality programs and Environmental Management Systems Standards.
- Participates / encourages participation in Continuous Improvement / Suggestion Programs.
- Perform other assignments as requested by management from time to time as well as making Manager/Designee aware of problems/slowdown in work area so can be assigned further duties.
Other Tasks:
- Continuously adhere to and apply the Magna Employee's Charter, the Magna Corporate Constitution, and the Magna Operational Principles in all aspects of position and interaction with others.
- Effective use of MDV's Escalation Process.
- Compliance to IATF customer requirements
- Attends all scheduled meetings and training.
- Understands and follows established rules, procedures and policies relating to position.
- Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures.

- Solid project management skills, establishing long range planning, timelines and goals

Education and Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in related discipline.
- 5 years experience in Purchasing/Materials Management related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Enrolment in PMAC program (CPP Designation) an asset
