General Motors CAMI Assembly is Canada's first, all-electric vehicle assembly plant. We are excited to assume a lead role driving our corporate vision of Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion.

The Role
We are currently looking for you to take on the role of Chassis/Propulsion QE Lead based out of our CAMI Assembly plant. In this role, you will be responsible for driving Quality improvements in internal & external metrics, which includes electrical First Time Quality (eFTQ), Direct Run Rate (DRR), Global Customer Audit (GCA) and Warranty / Voice of Customer (VOC). You will focus on supplier and engineering-related problems that impede assembling our vehicles or compromise its performance in the field. A considerable amount of creativity and initiative is necessary, as well as a high level of independent judgement.

- Manage daily project requests and prioritize and delegate work.
- Develop quick containments with robust long-term solutions to different problems as they arise.
- Home in on the root-cause through quick, efficient problem-solving.
- Navigate complexity without getting bogged down.
- Present the Assembly Plant and Engineering Staff with clear problem definition, technical guidance on complex problems, and regular updates on progress.
- Support Launch of new products in the plant when applicable.
- Support off-shifts as required.
What You'll Do
- Successfully manage multiple projects with broad scope and varying degrees of difficulty.
- Fix supplier quality and engineering issues impacting GCA, Direct Run Rate and Warranty.
- Participate in CPIT meetings and drive Warranty, Cost & Efficiency Improvement Initiatives
- Solve problems using Red X and other tools as applicable.
- Develop quality standards and procedures for the plant.
- Manage emerging issues on commodities you have responsibility for.
- Assist production teams in preventing defects and recommend process improvements.
- Work with Launch Team on new vehicle builds.
- Collaborate with suppliers on SPPSs and ensure robust corrective action.
- Share Lessons Learned with Engineering to prevent repeat design or build issues.
- Review nonconforming parts and sub-assemblies for proper initial disposition and root cause.
- Coordinate periodic system and process audits at the plant and supplier facilities.
- Support quality evaluation of new vehicles with engineering and production.
- Coordinate engineering change implementation. Assist in running PTRs (Production Trial Run).
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelors degree in Engineering in a related field and/or equivalent experience.
- Strong Engineering background.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Design Release Engineer, Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, Process Engineer, or Reliability Engineer.
- Independent judgment in managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from supervisor.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to lead diverse/cross-functional teams.
- Effective communicator with solid oral and written presentation skills.
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
- 3-5 years experience of leading teams
- High level of analytical ability, leadership and communication skills
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required, with ability to handle complex scenarios, and prioritize multiple issues
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and how to read and interpret 2D and 3D renderings
- Strong decision-making ability
- Red-X or OPEX Certification
