Do you thrive on creating order from chaos, and derive energy from helping teams work seamlessly together?

Do you have experience working in project management role in a communications, marketing or digital agency environment?

Edelman would love to get to know you!

We are seeking a talented project manager in our Toronto office. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing a variety of niche and integrated projects on a couple of significant accounts.

Edelman has evolved in Canada from its legacy as solely a PR agency to an integrated agency with specialties like Insights & Analytics, Paid Media, Planning & Creative and Digital Marketing. This evolution has led to both integrated AOR mandates with large Canadian brands and the awards to match from Cannes, CMAs, Strategy and the like, all wrapped in a culture that’s been awarded one of Canada’s Top 25 Great Places To Work.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage mid-to-largescale programs – across geographies and within the digital, creative, experiential and communications space –including estimating, identification of tasks, activities, and deliverable milestones as well as the documentation of the resulting plan (SOW, timelines).
  • Work in partnership with account management and specialty leads to onboard new projects, clarify their scopes, budgets, and identify appropriate resources that match the right skills to the task at hand. Provide solid recommendations on timelines and budgets.
  • Partner with other members of the project management group, collaborating across geographies to instill project management best practices within the Edelman Canada network.
  • Ensure projects are tracking on time, within scope and on budget. Report on project status and financials to the Account Leads and the Project Director.
  • Identify potential risk areas and identify and implement risk mitigation strategies on all assigned projects. Identify and flag out of scope items in a proactive manner.
  • Work with project teams to understand and manage expectations of both internal and external clients at the project level. Communicate potential variances upstream through senior team in timely fashion.
  • Work with the Edelman team and with various client team members to prioritize and reconcile competing demands (resourcing, budgeting, etc.) to meet Edelman and client business needs.
  • Identify and establish project management best practices on your accounts, and drive collaboration across specialty teams and offices. Proactively suggest new ways to streamline processes.
  • Develop meeting agendas, timelines, SOWs, project status recaps and workbacks. Run status meetings with the team based on the approved plan.
  • Serve as a primary escalation point for project level issues that may impact the client. Work with the project team to identify options for resolution and communicate those options upstream.
  • Attend client kick-off and status meetings and participate in scoping meetings. Communicate meeting objectives to project team members, ensuring efficient scheduling and appropriate agenda and recap documentation standards are met.
  • Demonstrate creative problem solving and conceptual thinking on client programs and projects.
  • Work as a strong "team player" and serve as a role model to more junior team members.
  • Live the Edelman values (the relentless pursuit of excellence, freedom to be constantly curious and courage to do the right thing).

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of related experience in project management in an integrated environment; ideally from a creative, digital, PR, marketing, or advertising agency.
  • Experience in partnering with client service and being the day-to-day project contact. A demonstrated ability to address client concerns thoughtfully and effectively.
  • Ability to manage project budgets, and experience adapting to budgeting software.
  • Experience creating project timelines in project management software such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet or similar.
  • A demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience with effectively delegating and/or executing many tactical assignments and accurately judging and reviewing the work of junior staff.
  • Ability to prioritize your own work with competing demands, delivering at an effective pace.
  • Creative and innovative approach to problem solving. Critical thinking skills are crucial.
  • Exceptional written and presentation skills.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar is an asset.

Should you be interested in applying for this role, please send your résumé and cover letter. Only those candidates shortlisted for an interview will be contacted. Thank you for your interest in working with Edelman.
