Job Summary

This position is responsible for engaging with and coordinating multidisciplinary teams through the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific manufacturing projects, mainly transferring manufacturing locations between Nidec facilities. The Project Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all applicable aspects of the transfer’s project schedule, cost and risk to exceed customer expectations and ensure a successful manufacturing startup at the new location

Job Description

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Become the owner of all things related to the transfer of a product from one manufacturing location to another within the company, including our standard process and best practices for completing these activities.
  • Leverage the organization’s NPD processes as needed for applicable stages and gates
  • Lead the planning and implementation of the overall product transfer
  • Confirm project objectives while ensuring technical feasibility
  • Be able to create a team roster with commitments from other functional areas to assign tasks and review resource requirements.
  • Track financial aspects of the transfer with team members from Finance
  • Plan and schedule project timelines
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools
  • Consistently monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders including senior leadership
  • Ensure successful product transfer with appropriate level of quality and meeting all customer needs with documentation and inspection.
  • Interface directly with all internal departments, outside suppliers/vendors and especially the customer regarding all facets of program control, management, and reporting
  • Ability to anticipate and manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs; to set new priorities, and follow through in order to meet deadlines
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Travel up to 25% of the time
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Can be located at either the North Mankato, MN or Lexington, TN facility.

Experience/Skills:

  • Due to Military requirements candidate must be U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum of 2 years direct project management experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Quality background and experience is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Full understanding of MS Suite, especially MS Project.
  • Understanding of quality tools and activities such as PPAP, First Article, Control Plans, etc. is a plus

Education:

  • Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in an engineering discipline.
