Job Description

The Role 

Our highway engineering team delivers a diverse range of MTO design projects, encompassing highway expansion, interchange design, roadway rehabilitation, and bridge rehabilitation/replacements. With a keen focus on serving the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), our team navigates the complexities of each project with precision and expertise. Leveraging our extensive experience and proficiency, we consistently meet the evolving demands, ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic across Ontario's road networks.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Acting as a project manager / highway design lead on multidiscipline detail design highway and bridge projects for MTO. 
  • Providing mentorship, support, and oversight to other engineers and technical staff working on your projects. 
  • Supporting and leading a project team to complete designs ranging from freeways, urban and rural multi-lane and two-lane facilities, interchanges, and intersections. 
  • Ensuring that corporate and client QA/QC practices are completed on all projects. 
  • Coordinating with clients, approval agencies, utility companies, contractors, etc. 
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with industry professionals, consultants and other business leaders. 
  • Preparing proposals, project work plans, schedules, and budgets. 
  • Monitoring overall work progress and technical performance on projects to ensure timelines and targets are being met. 

Qualifications

 

  • University degree in Civil Engineering and Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in highway design and project management within a consulting engineering environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of highway and transportation engineering, including policies, regulations, guidelines, and operational procedures.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to work effectively as part of a team and with external stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
  • MTO RAQS system approval for various specialties considered an asset.
