Job Description
As a member of the project’s Finance and Commercial team, the Project Accountant is responsible for all aspects of financial management and reporting. This role manages full-cycle project accounting, including payables, receivables, tax filings, accruals, and month-end and year-end close. The Project Accountant prepares monthly financial reports, monitors costs, revenues, and cash flow, and ensures compliance with budgets, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Perform full-cycle accounting activities, including managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, holdback accounts, HST filings, accruals, and other related tasks. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and maintain monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Monitor project costs, expenses, and revenues, ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgetary constraints.
- Review and reconcile project-related accounts, including payables, receivables, and general ledger accounts.
- Collaborate with project managers to track project progress and identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.
- Conduct regular financial audits and reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide financial analysis and support to project teams, including variance analysis, cost benefit analysis, and cash flow projections.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices related to project accounting.
Required Skills and Competencies
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
· Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
· 5+ years proven experience as an accountant, preferably in the construction industry.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
· Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

This role offers an annual base salary in the anticipated range of $79,500–$111,500 CAD, with compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
