PURPOSE OF POSITION


·        The Production Planner plays a critical role in ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and timely manufacturing operations by developing and maintaining production schedules. This role bridges the gap between demand planning, procurement, and manufacturing to optimize resource utilization, minimize downtime, and meet customer requirements.

·        By strategically planning production workflows, coordinating with various departments, and monitoring inventory levels, the Production Planner helps maintain operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity. Their efforts contribute to on-time delivery, cost control, and quality assurance, ultimately supporting the company’s business objectives and customer satisfaction.


TYPICAL DUTIES


·        Develop, manage, and adjust production workorders to ensure optimal efficiency and on-time delivery.  Our production is outsourced therefore you are working closely with a third party to achieve this.

·        Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, and logistics teams to align production plans with material availability and capacity constraints.

·        Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to prevent shortages or overstocking.

·        Analyze production data and forecast demand to improve planning accuracy.

·        Identify and resolve bottlenecks or delays in production while maintaining quality standards.

·        Ensure MRB levels are managed appropriately

·        Prepare reports on production performance & efficiency.

·        Implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline process.

·        Maintain SAP Configuration BOMS to match Agile and manage all associated Engineering Change Orders internally and externally (With the contract Manufacturer).  Keeping in mind any inventory exposure these may cause as well as impact to deliveries.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

·        Generally requires a Post-Secondary Degree in Business 


EXPERIENCE

·        Proven experience as a Production Planner or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues proactively.

·        Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., SAP, ERP, Kinaxis, MRP systems).

·        Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.

·        Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.


COMPLEXITY


Requires cross-functional collaboration with procurement, supply chain, production, quality control, and logistics teams.  Real time problem solving.


RESPONSIBILITY


Decisions are trusted and have direct impact on March customer relationships.


WORK GUIDANCE


Operates under moderate supervision.


CONTACTS


Frequent (daily) contact with external vendors & internal employees.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


Minimal amount of physical effort needed to perform job function.
