What’s the role?

The Production Manager leads end-to-end manufacturing and production operations, ensuring products are produced efficiently, safely, and in compliance with strict medical device quality standards and good manufacturing practices (GMP). This role sets the strategic direction for production, drives performance through KPIs, and develops teams while promoting lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Here’s what you’ll do:

Production & Operations Leadership

  • Oversee production areas including biomaterials, machining, cleanroom operations, packaging, warehousing, and shipping.

  • Manage supervisors and production staff while setting performance targets (volume, productivity, scrap rate, lead time).

  • Ensure production plans meet demand forecasts and business targets.

  • Monitor performance metrics and implement corrective action plans when needed.

  • Support workforce planning aligned with customer demand and operational goals.

  • Manage departmental budgets and capital expenditures.

  • Maintain strong safety culture and compliance with workplace safety standards.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure products meet medical device quality regulations, SOPs, and traceability requirements.

  • Provide training to staff on quality systems, cleanroom procedures, and regulatory compliance.

  • Maintain adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Continuous Improvement & Strategic Planning

  • Drive lean manufacturing and operational efficiency initiatives.

  • Partner with engineering teams to support capacity planning and process improvements.

  • Adapt production structure to changing customer demand and business strategy.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and production teams.

  • Strengthen team engagement, collaboration, and performance management.

  • Implement cross-training and workforce flexibility programs.

  • Communicate company strategy, departmental goals, and organizational updates.

Do you qualify?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (such as Applied Mechanics, Physics, Materials Science, or related field).

  • Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience within manufacturing environments.

  • Background in medical device manufacturing or other high-quality / regulated production environments.

  • Experience working in cleanroom or sterile production environments is highly preferred.

  • Interpret technical documents, business publications, and regulatory requirements.

  • Write reports, procedures, qualification studies, and business communications.

  • Present information clearly to leadership, customers, and cross-functional teams.

  • Communicate effectively with auditors and regulatory agencies (such as FDA auditors).

  • Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.

  • Lean Manufacturing / Lean Management experience.

  • Strong reporting and documentation skills.

  • Proficiency with: Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook

Compensation:

  • The annual pay range for this position is $105,000 - $131,200.

  • This position is eligible for a Performance Bonus. 

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
