Role Summary

The Product Owner will report to the Group Head of Cannabis and  is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and driving the development of Greentank's THC product portfolio. Acting as the business owner for assigned product categories, this role is accountable for identifying market opportunities, translating customer and business needs into product requirements, and ensuring product investments deliver commercial value and strategic growth.

Working at the intersection of commercial strategy and product development, the Product Owner leads the product vision and roadmap from concept through commercialization. This role collaborates closely with Commercial, Engineering, Quality, Scientific, Supply Chain, and Project Management teams to align development priorities with customer needs, market trends, and business objectives.

Role Responsibilities

Product Ownership and Product Direction

  • Own the product roadmap and prioritization for designated THC categories, ensuring alignment with customer needs, business objectives, and portfolio priorities.
  • Identify product opportunities via market research, customer insights, and ROI assessment.
  • Establish product requirements and positioning aligned with customer needs and corporate strategy.
  • Prioritize product opportunities and development activities based on customer value, commercial potential, technical feasibility, and strategic alignment.
  • Define product success criteria , target customers, and commercial justification for development initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations for project acceleration, pivots, or terminations based on technical and commercial evidence.
  • Oversee portfolio performance and identify necessary corrective actions.

Product Ownership and Commercial Accountability

  • Own product performance throughout the lifecycle, from concept through post-launch evaluation.
  • Define and maintain success criteria, market positioning, and value propositions for assigned categories.
  • Monitor product performance and customer adoption metrics and drive corrective actions where required.
  • Use customer, market, and operational feedback to guide future roadmap decisions.
  • Balance customer value, technical feasibility, and commercial objectives when making product decisions.
  • Act as the primary decision-maker for product scope, prioritization, and trade-offs.

Product Development and Commercialization

  • Lead product initiatives from opportunity identification through launch.
  • Convert market opportunities into measurable success criteria and product requirements.
  • Ensure alignment between technical feasibility, customer expectations, and operational readiness.
  • Facilitate structured decision-making throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Manage project progression through stage-gate requirements and milestone reviews.
  • Oversee commercialization planning and the transition to operational departments.
  • Conduct post-launch product reviews to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure development activities remain aligned with product strategy and business objectives.

Customer and Market Leadership

  • Serve as the primary product representative for customer-facing development initiatives.
  • Engage customers to validate concepts and gather insights for future product opportunities.
  • Translate customer and market insights into actionable product requirements and roadmap priorities.
  • Maintain relationships with strategic partners and key stakeholders.
  • Keep an in-depth understanding of market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity.

Technical Product Leadership:

  • Develop knowledge in atomization systems, vape formulations, and product performance drivers.
  • Challenge technical assumptions to ensure engineering efforts remain commercially aligned.
  • Partner with Engineering, Scientific, and Quality teams to ensure product decisions are grounded in technical evidence.
  • Balance performance, manufacturability, quality, and cost considerations throughout product development.
  • Verify that product requirements are validated and commercially relevant.
  • Support validation strategies and the definition of performance metrics.

Cross Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Guide cross-functional teams including Commercial, Technical, and Supply Chain.
  • Align teams on priorities, trade-offs, and resource allocation.
  • Facilitate issue resolution and effective decision-making forums.
  • Provide strategic direction to Project Managers regarding product priorities, requirements, and strategic alignment.
  • Communicate portfolio status and strategic recommendations to Senior Leadership.
  • Foster strong collaboration across departments to ensure successful product outcomes.

Product Process and Operational Excellence:

  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of governance frameworks and portfolio management systems.
  • Improve the consistency and traceability of product requirements, specifications, and supporting documentation. documentation across functions.
  • Establish portfolio dashboards and structured executive reporting.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to increase speed of execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase product development effectiveness and speed of execution.

Requirements

Formal Education or Equivalent

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, STEM, or a related discipline.
  • An advanced technical degree or MBA is considered an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in Product Management, Commercialization, or related roles.
  • Experience managing portfolios, making strategic investment decisions and presenting business cases to senior leadership.
  • Proven Track record of commercializing complex hardware from concept to mass production with the ability to collaborate with commercial and manufacturing teams.
  • Experience in consumer electronics, cannabis, or medical device industries preferred.

  • Ability to evaluate market trends and drive customer-led innovation.
  • Capacity to evaluate operational and regulatory trade-offs in development decisions.
