What's the role?

The Product Marketing Specialist plays a key role in how Modern Campus brings its products to market with clarity, consistency, and impact. This role supports positioning, messaging, go-to-market planning, sales enablement, and product storytelling across assigned product areas. 

Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, the Product Marketing Specialist will take meaningful ownership early—partnering with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and the broader Marketing team to translate product capabilities into compelling value for higher education institutions. 

The ideal candidate has foundational experience in B2B SaaS marketing, strong technical curiosity, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, customer-centric messaging. You are proactive, collaborative, and ready to deepen your product marketing craft in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. 


Key Responsibilities 

Go-to-Market Strategy & Messaging 

  • Support the development of positioning, messaging, and value propositions for assigned product areas. 
  • Assist in planning and executing go-to-market strategies for feature releases and product launches. 
  • Maintain personas, use cases, and problem statements that underpin strong product narratives. 

Cross-Functional Alignment 

  • Partner closely with Product Management to understand roadmaps, feature functionality, and user workflows. 
  • Collaborate with Demand Gen, Brand, Content, and Sales Enablement to ensure cohesive messaging across all materials and campaigns. 
  • Support Sales and Customer Success with product updates, readiness materials, and internal communications. 

Sales Enablement 

  • Build and update sales collateral, including pitch decks, product briefs, one-pagers, battlecards, and competitive summaries. 
  • Support product training sessions for Sales and Customer Success teams. 
  • Provide messaging, insights, and market context to accelerate opportunities and strengthen in-field execution. 

Market, Customer & Competitive Insights 

  • Conduct research to understand market trends, emerging needs, customer challenges, and competitive dynamics. 
  • Support customer interviews, win/loss analysis, and persona validation efforts. 
  • Translate insights into actionable recommendations for product storytelling and GTM strategy. 

Content & Communications 

  • Contribute to the creation of clear, engaging product content—including solution briefs, product pages, email messaging, webinar scripts, and case studies. 
  • Ensure all content accurately reflects product value and aligns with Modern Campus’ broader narrative. 

What you offer...

  • 2–5 years of experience in product marketing, content marketing, or related B2B SaaS marketing roles. 
  • Strong technical acumen and the ability to quickly understand product functionality, data workflows, and SaaS concepts. 
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills; able to translate technical features into customer-centered value. 
  • Highly collaborative and coachable, with strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and bring clarity to complex areas. 
  • Strong project management discipline and comfort in fast-moving, cross-functional environments. 
  • Experience in higher ed tech or mission-driven SaaS is a plus, but not required. 
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a growth mindset.
