As a key member of the Product Team, reporting to the Director, Product, the Product Manager will be responsible for translating the platform vision and defining the direction of the product and its roadmap. This individual will take part in a cross-functional team working together to realize our ambitious mission of decreasing the time it takes to develop a new drug and bring it to patients by 50%. We're on the look out for someone who enjoys building products that deliver disproportionate value to bench Scientists that are working for the largest and most advanced pharmaceutical companies in the world. This role sits at the intersection of science and data and combines an ability to deeply empathize with bench scientists, their needs, and their pain points, especially in the pre-clinical phase of new drug development.  This is a challenging, impactful, and highly collaborative position. 

You Will:

  • Be the voice of the user and customer within BenchSci
  • Have a deep understanding of scientists’ needs and ensure they are taken into consideration when building our product
  • Conduct end-user research to ensure we build features customers will love, including creating user personas, mapping user workflows, and identifying addressable pain points along those workflows
  • Develop strategy and roadmap for our products, including further innovation and also optimization of the existing features and functionality
  • Drive execution as part of a cross-functional team focused on this particular product including Design, Engineering, Science, Machine Learning, R&D, and Project Management 
  • Translate customer needs into user, technical, and data requirements and related resources and iterate quickly on the product
  • Measure and report key metrics to internal stakeholders to demonstrate the value created by the team
  • Communicate often - keep teams aligned on the purpose of our work
  • Be expected to both represent our product in an unbiased way to end-users as well as communicate priorities to a variety of internal stakeholders

You Have:

  • 3+ years as a Product Manager on SaaS enterprise products or platforms with technically complex solutions
  • Experience working on scientifically-informed data and products is preferred A PhD in biology (or a related field) and/or experience and knowledge of Biological Sciences (e.g., Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, etc.) or equivalent, would be a very strong asset in this role
  • A proven track record in bringing clarity to a complex domain and driving alignment between technical and data teams, and the rest of the company 
  • Successfully taken new features from conception, through launch to adoption, engagement, and retention
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes over outputs
  • Experience interacting directly with highly technical stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills - can deal with ambiguity, lead discovery efforts, prioritize, and drive execution on objectives, ensuring they ladder up to key strategies
  • A data-informed decision-making process, and can identify new opportunities and provide sound reasoning for strategy decisions from that data
