Meet Benevity

Benevity is the way the world does good, providing companies (and their employees) with technology to take social action on the issues they care about. Through giving, volunteering, grantmaking, employee resource groups and micro-actions, we help most of the Fortune 100 brands build better cultures and use their power for good. We’re also one of the first B Corporations in Canada, meaning we’re as committed to purpose as we are to profits. We have people working all over the world, including Canada, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and more!

High-Level Overview:
We are seeking a deeply empathetic and highly operational Product Manager to lead the vision and execution for the entire NPO experience within Benevity's platform. This role requires profound expertise in the non-profit/charitable sector, including regulatory environments, compliance, and the unique needs of NPO users. The primary focus will be on leading backlog refinement, meticulous story management, and ensuring rapid, high-quality feature delivery that drives value for our NPO partners.

What you'll do:

  • NPO Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the internal authority on global non-profit operations, regulatory requirements, and receipting standards.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Oversight: Partner with Legal and Finance to ensure features meet complex global tax and charitable regulations (e.g., IRS, CRA, GDPR).
  • Vision & Roadmap Advocacy: Champion a product strategy that optimizes the NPO user journey and enhances engagement with corporate clients.
  • Backlog Ownership: Lead structured, continuous backlog refinement sessions to ensure the team prioritizes high-value, high-impact items.
  • Story Breakdown Mastery: Deconstruct complex epics into executable user stories with clear acceptance criteria and technical dependency mapping.
  • Strategic Prioritization: Maintain a transparent backlog, articulating the "why" behind decisions to both engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Delivery: Collaborate daily with Engineering and UX/UI to manage sprint execution and ensure timely, high-quality feature delivery.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary bridge between the NPO team and internal departments like Client Success, Finance, and Sales.
  • Change Management: Lead the rollout of new features by providing clear documentation, internal training, and enablement support.
  • Success Tracking: Define and monitor KPIs for NPO engagement, feature adoption, and user satisfaction to measure product impact.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of Product Management experience, with at least 2 years focusing on products, services, or internal tools within the non-profit, charity, or philanthropic technology space.
  • Domain Knowledge: Deep, demonstrable knowledge of the non-profit ecosystem, including fundraising, grant management, tax-receipting standards, and the challenges faced by charity administrators.
  • Agile & Execution Excellence: Proven expertise in advanced backlog management techniques, including running highly effective refinement/grooming sessions and managing complex story dependencies.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data (user feedback, support tickets, system usage) to drive product decisions.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate technical requirements to engineers and regulatory constraints to business stakeholders.
  • Tooling: Proficiency with standard agile and product tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, product analytics platforms).

Nice to haves

  • Previous NPO Experience: Prior experience working directly for a non-profit organization, charity, or grantmaking foundation.
  • Financial/Compliance PM: Experience managing products with heavy integration points with finance, compliance, or disbursement systems.
  • Global Perspective: Familiarity with international charitable regulations and standards beyond North America.
  • UX/UI Sensitivity: A strong sense of user-centered design and a history of working closely with UX/UI designers to optimize complex workflows for non-technical users.
