The Product Manager has direct control over the products under their management and the defined product department staff resources that may be assigned to those product areas. The Product Manager is responsible for ensuring defined product initiatives are completed on required schedule and must follow up with other line managers (Development, QA, etc.) if there are issues in meeting deliverables.
Key Job Functions/Responsibilities

Develop a thorough understanding of their products in today’s market space. Regular meetings with clients, prospects, Broadridge associates, securities industry utilities (e.g. CDS, TSE) and other securities professionals are a means to accomplish this.

Gather competitive information and stay in the forefront of industry forums and trade shows is important.

Exercise judgment as to how the product should be positioned in the market and advocate a vision for the product.

The Product Manager will be assigned specific product directions, as needed, by the National Product Manager.

Develop plans, schedules, and assign responsibilities to staff, which are typically Business Analysts.

All identified Development Request Forms (DRFs) relating to the assigned product is the responsibility of the Product Manager. They provide clients, Product Specialists, Application Specialists, Conversion and Marketing staff with timely information on the status of all the identified DRFs, including the cost to the client (if any).

Meet regularly (at least annually) with existing clients in order to provide them with up-to-date information on the availability and evolution of assigned products. DRF management plays a crucial role in client management as well. This process requires close liaison with Product and Application Specialists as well as Client Services management.

Leverage their knowledge of the industry and assigned products in order to assist in Marketing events and to win new business. This would include making presentations to prospects on their products.

May be required to perform the duties of a Business Analyst, especially on more complex initiatives that would require considerable product and industry expertise.

Responsible for recruiting, mentoring, delegating assignments, reviewing progress, disciplinary measures and providing feedback for associates assigned to their team.

Travel may be required for this position.
Basic Skill Level Requirements
Education:
-
University degree in Computer Science or Business Administration
Experience:
-
5+ years of experience in the Financial/Brokerage industry.
-
5+ years of securities brokerage (preferred) or mutual fund industry experience.
Skills:
-
Excellent time management, communications, leadership and decision making skills
-
Ability to mentor/coach staff.
-
Ability to negotiate effectively internally and externally.
Tools:
-
Experience with two or more of the following: ADP Dataphile, ADP BPS, RPM, ISM, Multipath, Creosus, Advent, RBCDS’ Berton System, Spectra, Reuters (or similar) trading workstations.

General familiarity with computer technology, especially as it relates to “mission critical” and financial systems (e.g. disaster recovery, high availability clustering, fault tolerance, computer languages, etc.)
