How You Will Contribute

  • Lead cross-functional teams through Ciena’s structured new product introduction process.
  • Develop and coordinate release plans to ensure projects are delivered on time, with committed content and high quality.
  • Proactively manage project risks by creating and executing risk management strategies.
  • Track and report project status, including schedule, content, quality, and product cost.
  • Document and communicate project progress, obstacles, and resolutions to senior management.
  • Identify performance issues and drive recovery planning with the team.
  • Oversee early pre-release customer engagements, ensuring deliverables and support are in place.

The Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • 5-10 years of technical leadership experience, including 3-5 years in Project Management.
  • Experience managing technical projects involving both software and hardware.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Proven expertise in project management, including planning, risk assessment, and problem resolution.
  • Demonstrated team-building and leadership skills with a persistent and positive attitude.
  • Ability to quickly learn and grasp technical concepts related to product development.

Nice to Haves

  • PMP Certification.
  • Background in product development.
  • Proficiency in navigating complex organizations and applying influence, consultative, and negotiating skills.

Pay Range:

The salary range for this role in Canada is $90, 200 - $144, 000

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time. We also comply with all applicable laws regarding Paid Family Leave and other leaves of absence.
