About the role
We’re looking for an exceptional leader to anchor greenfield product engineering efforts in our New York office!
- You’ll directly manage one to two product engineering teams and be accountable for their success.
- You’ll partner closely with the founders and an amazing EPD team to build powerful experiences for all users that drive critical outcomes for the business.
- You’ll have a front seat in shaping the evolution of Hex’s EPD organization.
Product engineering teams at Hex work on things like:
- Hex’s library of cell types, and all the capabilities they support
- Workflows for no code users to easily get data insights from Hex
- A governed, searchable workspace where all users find exactly the data insights they need
- A powerful frontend experience to seamlessly create and edit small and large data projects
- … and more! We’d love to share when we speak with you.
About you
- At least 8+ years of engineering experience, with at least 4+ in a management capacity.
- A keen eye for delightful software experiences, and well calibrated opinions on what will resonate with users, particularly in collaborative SaaS products.
- Genuine interest in deep technical problems and striking the right balance between iteration speed and long term quality.
- Must enjoy being hands-on, e.g. reading RFCs, giving feedback on designs and technical specs, joining customer calls, and using the product frequently.
- Excellent execution track record — able to ship complex, full-stack projects with multiple stakeholders within the context of a top-tier EPD organization.
- Ability to navigate through uncertainty and ambiguity to keep things moving forward. We are still early stage, there is a lot to figure out!
- Clear, proactive communication, particularly with less technical stakeholders. This includes not just what is being built but when and why.
- Inspiring and compassionate people management to lead the team to great achievements while maintaining the flexibility and agility of a startup environment.
- Experience hiring incredible individuals, with the industry connections to attract & sell that talent on Hex.
- Conviction on effective engineering practices that you’d be excited to bring to Hex.
- Bonus: Proven experience or strong curiosity in data products, modern data technologies, and relevant industry trends.
- This role will be hybrid (~2 days per week in office) based out of NYC.
