Who we areAbout Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Optimized Checkout Suite team gives merchants a set of prebuilt checkout surfaces that are optimized for conversion and scale as merchants expand to new geographies, customer segments, and business models. The sheer volume of payments that flow through our checkout surfaces on an hourly basis necessitates the highest level of craft and reliability, which means that checkout product designers have the chance to create and ship the best work of their careers.

What you’ll do

You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and design partners to shape the future of our merchant of record product, a global selling solution for businesses of all sizes. You’ll simplify global selling for merchants, crossing the full lifecycle of payments: localized and conversion-optimized checkout, tax handling, disputes and fraud management, fulfillment, and customer support. You’ll design merchant experiences that minimize the time and effort required to use Stripe as a merchant of record and craft consumer experiences that are convenient and frictionless.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of merchants and consumers to influence product direction
  • Work with partner teams across Stripe to launch high-quality, user-facing product experiences
  • Work closely with peer designers, product managers, and engineers to define both the long-term strategy and the short-term tactics for upcoming and existing initiatives
  • Design high-quality UIs that set the standard for what good design looks like at Stripe
  • Participate in design reviews and share your work regularly with the design and team leadership

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 4+ years relevant design experience at a product-driven tech company
  • Strong skills in visual design, interaction design, and prototyping demonstrated through a portfolio of work, spanning desktop and mobile surfaces
  • Experience designing B2B and consumer products
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong independence and an ability to advocate for a larger design vision with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ability to reduce complex problems down to the right balance of flexibility, power, and ease of use
  • Skilled in explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and crave feedback to help you produce your best work

What you need to know about the Toronto Tech Scene

Although home to some of the biggest names in tech, including Google, Microsoft and Amazon, Toronto has established itself as one of the largest startup ecosystems in the world. And with over 2,000 startups — more than 30 percent of the country's total startups — Toronto continues to attract new businesses. Be it helping entrepreneurs manage their finances, simplifying business operations by automating payroll or assisting pharmaceutical companies in launching new drugs, the city's tech scene is just getting started.
