We’re not just building better tech. We’re rewriting how data moves and what the world can do with it. With Confluent, data doesn’t sit still. Our platform puts information in motion, streaming in near real-time so companies can react faster, build smarter, and deliver experiences as dynamic as the world around them.

It takes a certain kind of person to join this team. Those who ask hard questions, give honest feedback, and show up for each other. No egos, no solo acts. Just smart, curious humans pushing toward something bigger, together.

One Confluent. One Team. One Data Streaming Platform.

About the Role:

This product design role is a remote, mid-career opportunity for candidates based in Canada. The ideal candidate would have experience working in SaaS or B2B environments and be adept at tackling complex design projects. This designer will be part of the Confluent product design organization, working alongside about 20 other designers focused on similarly complex problems. The design role will be responsible for products and services that focus on the core Apache Kafka technology, along with projects involving the Product-Led-Growth (PLG) group. The ideal candidate may also contribute to optimizing user experiences in broader areas of the platform product through their work on Kafka & PLG.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead design initiatives, including feature design, design for experiments, and UX research, for various features of the Confluent Cloud data streaming platform, along with rapid and interactive experiments promoting business growth for Confluent.

  • Translate complex conceptual ideas into interaction or service design solutions tailored to meet the needs of our unique customer base of developers and operators.

  • Drive product strategy by acting as the voice of the customer and aligning user needs with business and technical requirements.

  • Craft consistent, delightful, best-in-class user experiences and provide feedback to other designers to ensure design excellence.

  • Perform usability testing, gather feedback from end users, and share findings and recommendations with the broader team.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and fellow designers to launch new product experiences, track performance, and iterate on enhancements.

What You Will Bring:
  • Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to implement features that are both delightful for the user and feasible for the business.

  • Comfortable working with ambiguity in product and/or business requirements. Ability to perform research and discovery in the subject area with assistance from peers.

  • Ability to rapidly adjust or pivot design thinking based on late breaking changes and or additional information provided by stakeholders.

  • Ability to advocate for the role of design or user research in the product delivery process.

  • Experience consistently implementing a Design System.

  • Comfortable leading user research sessions, alone or with support from peers.

  • Enthusiastic about giving and receiving constructive feedback to drive design excellence.

  • Proficiency in producing realistic prototypes to convey interaction design concepts.

  • A portfolio showcasing your design process, design projects, and associated outcomes.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Product Designer.

  • This position is open to candidates located anywhere in Canada, with occasional travel required (1-2 times per quarter).
