Job Description

Role Overview

The Product Data Lead is a hands‑on Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for coordinating day‑to‑day Product Data activities and ensuring the consistent, high‑quality execution of Product Data workflows.

The SME focus of this role is on LGC Standards’ internal Product Data workflows within our PIM and ERP systems, rather than ownership of the systems themselves. The role centres on operational delivery, workflow coordination, SOP ownership, quality assurance, team training, and incremental process improvements, alongside hands‑on data extraction and distributor file preparation.

This is a delivery‑focused role, well suited to someone who enjoys being close to day‑to‑day operations, ensuring work is completed correctly, and enabling others through clear processes and documentation. It is not a people‑management, system‑implementation, or enterprise transformation role.

Key Responsibilities

Product Data Coordination & Operations

  • Act as the primary SME for Product Data workflows within the PIM and ERP systems, providing guidance on correct day‑to‑day execution.
  • Triage, manage, and coordinate incoming Product Data tickets, ensuring clear prioritisation, accurate completion, and timely resolution.
  • Support Product Data Associates by clarifying requirements, coaching on workflows, and resolving operational issues.
  • Perform quality checks on Product Data activities completed by Associates, confirming:
    • SOPs have been followed
    • Data has been entered accurately and consistently
    • Common errors or rework risks are identified early
  • Monitor workload distribution, ticket volumes, turnaround times, and SLAs, escalating risks or capacity constraints where required.
  • Remain hands‑on with Product Data tasks during peak periods or for more complex requests.

Workflow, SOPs, Training & Quality Assurance

  • Own, maintain, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that document how Product Data workflows are executed within the PIM and ERP systems.
  • Translate complex or evolving workflows into clear, practical documentation and training materials.
  • Deliver hands‑on training focused on “how we do things here,” ensuring consistent system usage, data quality, and process adherence.
  • Use quality check findings to:
    • Identify knowledge gaps or training needs
    • Improve SOP clarity
    • Propose small‑to‑medium operational improvements that reduce errors and rework
  • Support consistent standards across the team by embedding quality expectations into workflows and documentation.

Distributor & Commercial Product Data

  • Prepare, validate, and distribute distributor product catalogue files, including regular monthly and ad‑hoc extracts.
  • Perform hands‑on data extraction, validation, and file preparation using ERP/PIM systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Conduct quality checks on distributor files to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and alignment to SOPs before release.
  • Implement incremental enhancements to catalogue structure, formatting, and data quality to better meet distributor requirements.
  • Support Commercial activities such as the Annual Price Review (APR) by providing accurate and timely Product Data inputs.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Commercial, IT, and Operations teams to clarify requirements, dependencies, and priorities.
  • Provide pragmatic, delivery‑focused solutions to Product Data challenges, balancing accuracy, speed, and operational constraints.
  • Contribute to reporting on Product Data operational metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives at an operational level.

Qualifications

  • Hands‑on experience operating within ERP and/or PIM systems, with strong practical knowledge of end‑to‑end Product Data workflows.
  • Proven experience coordinating operational work, queues, or ticket‑based processes.
  • Experience performing quality assurance checks on data and processes, with the ability to spot errors and drive corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, maintain, and improve SOPs, training materials, and process documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with large datasets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. formulas, pivots, data validation); exposure to SQL or Python is beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience with distributor catalogues, file extracts, or commercial Product Data processes is advantageous.
  • Clear, structured communicator with a collaborative and pragmatic working style.

Minimum: CAD $60,000/ yearly
