The Product and Application Intern's position is a fixed-term position of 12 to 14 months, working with the full-time sales and P&A staff in the team, providing timely and accurate technical support for heat transfer solutions to direct-buying customers, distribution partners and consulting engineers, primarily for the Refrigeration, HVAC and Utilities markets.

With this resource in place, sales staff will be able to devote more focus towards proactive sales in their target areas (above industries, plus Data Centres, Semi-Conductors and other Tech markets).

Job duties are as follows:

  • Review quotation requests from leads generated by our direct sales team and distribution partners.  Select, design and configure products and solutions according to customer specification using Alfa Laval’s configuration tools. Including resizing and redesigning of existing install base.
  • Prepare offer documentation, primarily quotations and estimates, with occasional formal proposals as required for submittal to the customer.
  • Provide occasional performance and rating checks of existing units, and similar customer support.
  • Maintain sales process records in our CRM tool and other systems in a consistent and qualitative way, to support the sales process and take decisions.
  • Prepare and coordinate order handover to our Order Fulfilment team, close communication, and collaboration with Project Management.
  • Your duties, responsibilities and reporting relationships may be enhanced or modified as business needs dictate from time to time.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED

Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:

  • Engineering student, typically chemical or mechanical, who has completed their 3rd year of formal education.

Type and Length of Experience:

  • Previous work experience in a customer-facing environment is a valued asset..

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:

  • Completed courses in heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
  • You are an effective problem solver, a self-starter, detail oriented, service minded and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • You must demonstrate excellence in verbal and written communication, good personal organization and be proficient in the use of computers.
  • Proficiency in French (oral and written) is a welcomed asset.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Physical Requirements (lifting, climbing, standing, equipment use):
  • Must be able to work in an office environment, and visit industrial & commercial environments as needed.
