Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Specialist to support the purchasing and supply chain operations of our organization. In this role, you will assist in sourcing materials, equipment, and services, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods to meet operational needs.  Reporting to the Director of Procurement, your role will involve tracking and expediting procurement packages to ensure timely delivery of materials and services in line with construction and project milestones.

In this role, you will actively work through vendor negotiations, alternate sourcing strategies, and bulk purchasing where appropriate. You will be ensuring supply chain resilience by developing strong relationships with a diversified base of reliable suppliers, including those for critical spares, MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) items, and capital equipment.

This is a full-time, hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote) role based in Toronto. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and is excited to make a meaningful impact.

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure all procurement activities align with CM’s legal and ethical standards, promoting fairness, transparency, and competitiveness while optimizing value and mitigating risks.
  • Possess strong experience within an EPC/M (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management) project environment, particularly in the administration of construction and site services contracts.
  • Lead the strategic sourcing process, including RFx initiatives (RFI, RFP, RFQ), bid evaluations, negotiation planning, contract execution, and ongoing contract lifecycle management.
  • Work closely with engineering, construction, capital projects, and maintenance teams to interpret technical specifications and ensure the procurement of compliant, fit-for-purpose equipment.
  • Act as the primary contact for all procurement and contract-related inquiries and issue resolution for CM’s teams. Lead meetings and discussions with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure alignment with project and operational requirements.
  • Manage the complete procurement lifecycle for capital projects, indirect materials, service contracts, consumables, spare parts, raw materials, and industrial services.
  • Support contract administration and vendor onboarding processes in collaboration with legal and finance departments.
  • Partner with internal teams to develop and improve procurement templates, forms, workflows, and procedures, enhancing departmental efficiency and performance.
  • Monitor and assess supplier performance, address order discrepancies, and maintain effective working relationships with key vendors.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and regularly prepare detailed reports on procurement activities, performance metrics, and cost-saving initiatives.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • 5-7 years of procurement or supply chain experience in mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with purchasing mechanical, electrical, and industrial components or plant services.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and documentation requirements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
