Job Summary

The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for process improvement/re-engineering methodology and application. In this role, you coordinate the priority of work with Production departments to ensure that jobs are accomplished in a sequence that maximizes benefit.

Job Description

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitor progress to evaluate work performance and loading of tasks for individuals and equipment, maximizing the effective use of both
  • Coordinate the priority of work with Production departments to insure that jobs are accomplished in a sequence that maximizes benefit
  • Organize and present formal technical reviews, writes and edits methods engineering documents
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems regarding the most efficient methods of fabrication and assembly of components
  • Participate in the preparation of manufacturing plans, first article schedules, defining optimum work sequence, determining shop layouts, time studies, line balancing and other methods engineering activities as necessary to insure attainment of performance targets
  • Coordinate production with Quality Assurance inspection activities as they may be related to work in progress

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess problems or issues with manufacturing equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of production principles and techniques.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Thorough understanding of safety and health laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Thorough understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other effective manufacturing and distribution techniques.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel

  • Some travel will be required, but it will be minimal

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, or equivalent industry work experience required.

Experience and qualifications

3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Must have strong understanding of Electrical manufacturing and products
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (electrical/mechanical assemblies and motor assembly is preferred)
  • Knowledge of 6S Lean Manufacturing is required
  • Requires a mindset of Continuous Improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the factory.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on computers.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Visual acuity to inspect products and machinery.
