Does the idea of working in a collaborative and face-paced environment, for a word-class retailer interest you? Reporting to Senior Manager, ICFR and Process Analysis, you will document and identify effectiveness of financial controls, as part of the Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) program that is based on the COSO framework.
You will also support management, and provide recommendations, modifications and enhancements to financial and operational systems by understanding business objectives and analysing applications/ systems related to ICFR for e.g., SAP.

About the Role
- Support evaluation of key controls for ICFR assessment cycles, responsible for strengthening the overall internal control environment related to the specified workstreams of reconciliations and attestations and general ledger chart of accounts.
- Review, assess and document existing financial controls framework, processes and controls, identifying issues / opportunities, make recommendations to enhance the financial control environment and oversee implementation of process / control changes and improvements to SAP workflows / processes.
- Liaise with control owners to update and maintain ICFR process narratives and flowcharts.
- Support maintenance and updating of Risk and Control Matrix (RACM) to identify and assess risks in addition to any improvements to strengthen controls that impact financial statements.
- Support coordination of the annual project plan and any ICFR documentation for assigned test cycle(s) via SharePoint site for annual ICFR assessment.
- Support monitoring of remediation of outstanding gaps with controls owners, providing guidance to remediate control deficiencies identified through GAP analyses and process / control assessment.
About You
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration or Commerce is required.
- An accounting or Finance designation CPA, CA, CIA is an asset.
- Detailed understanding of audit assertions, in depth knowledge of governance, risk and compliance frameworks such as COSO 2013, COBIT and regulatory frameworks such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and NI 52-109.
- Thorough understanding of financial statement assertions and their practical application related to financial controls in a retail environment.
- 5+ years experience in internal and external audit, testing financial controls, documenting process narratives and flowcharts etc.
- 3+ years of experience in process analysis, problem solving, report writing and presentation to senior management.
- Understanding of SAP functionalities and its use.
- Strong ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and communicating with various teams.
- Ability to make timely decisions based on a combination of data, professional judgment and common sense.
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal in addition to organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office especially Word, PowerPoint and Visio are required along with knowledge of Excel.
