Pro Game Guides is the destination for diehard gamers who help players progress through games with in-depth and succinct guides. We’re currently seeking freelance writers to bolster our walkthrough coverage. This is a fully remote position.

Working with Pro Game Guides is a great opportunity to cover your favorite games in an in-depth manner. Our international newsroom is filled with talented, passionate people who are eager to cover a variety of games (and tackle projects outside their gaming comfort zones). Applicants should be motivated self-starters with an attention to detail.

This role requires you to write lengthy, comprehensive articles covering the ins and outs of a game. That includes details for beating every boss, finding every collectible and how to solve all of those tricky puzzles along the way. If this long-form writing doesn't appeal to you, you might not be the right fit this time around.

Responsibilities:

  • Help create detailed walkthroughs for new-release games, live-service titles, and Roblox experiences.
  • Update existing walkthroughs when required
  • Submit clean copy with minimal edits
  • Meet deadlines for publishing stories
  • Find popular games and pitch them for walkthrough opportunities
  • Write about a variety of topics for the site

Bonus points for:

  • Flexibility covering assignments outside your preference – We love all-rounder gamers!
  • Past experience writing walkthroughs is preferred

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English and excellent writing skills
  • Knowledge of SEO practices, WordPress, Trello, and Google Trends

To Be Considered:

Please provide a resume, 1-3 relevant writing samples or a portfolio link (an application without a writing sample will not be considered), and a cover letter that explains your expertise in video games, telling us which games/topics you're most knowledgeable about.

Rates: $11-250 per article depending on length and content type. Rates may vary, depending on location, for international candidates.
