Position Overview

Designers at Autodesk can think across the system, champion design ideas, collaborate with stakeholders, advocate for the customer, and deliver impactful data-driven designs. Our designers use creative and innovative solutions to deliver high-quality experiences our customers will love.

In this role you will empower our customers to discover, access, and augment their data across Autodesk products seamlessly by enabling great in-product experiences and providing elegant interoperability solutions. Responsible for researching, designing and validating workflows and features related to Product Data solutions. As a principal designer we expect you to utilize forward design thinking methods to help target, clarify and align teams to strategic goals and growth in our Product Data solutions. You will also embrace your leadership opportunities to help grow the XD practice. This role reports to the, Sr. Manager, Experience Design & Architecture on our Platform Strategy and Emerging Technology (PSET) team.

Preference for candidates located in Toronto, Canada to work hybrid/remote from our Toronto office. Will also consider qualified remote candidates in ET zone.

Responsibilities

User/Market Research:

  • Create & conduct research related to problem framing as well as solutioning

  • Communicate & align teams on synthesis & findings related to research

  • Build an internal network across products to support Platform needs that will aid different industries

  • Work with product teams and partner product teams to understand business goals & contribute to achievements towards success metrics

  • Maintain familiarity across the technical landscape to ensure compatibility with proposed feature sets

  • Collaborate with members of the product team in the production of white papers, demonstration examples, and other technical collateral required for product introductions and ongoing marketing

User Experience Design and Management:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and look for opportunities to solve problems in unique and innovative experiences

  • Create XD deliverables for the products you support to advocate for users & the solutions that support their needs

  • Help define the vision and execution of solving real user problems through the user experience

  • Design and evaluate alternative solutions to choose the best approach

  • Visualize and prototype an intended solution. Meet and collaborate with users and development partners to validate conceptual designs

  • Deliver design documentation for use by a wide range of audiences including Software Development, Test Development, Technical Publications, Sales and Marketing. Review feature implementation, test plans and documentation to ensure accuracy of desired application results

Project Communication and Coordination:

  • Facilitate presentations and discussions with users, developers, and product marketers to drive resolution on proposed features and functionality

  • Partner with development team to drive successful implementation of the user experience design specifications. Resolve any implementation issues that

  • affect the design

  • Provide training and leadership by example to other User Experience Designers in user-centered design methods

  • Train other internal company stakeholders on new workflows and functionality after appropriate scoping and development milestones are met

  • Participate in Design Reviews and model best practices for giving and receiving feedback

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years' experience in UX Design

  • Technical understanding of APIs, SDKs, data models, data exchanges, connectors, and data management and the role XD can play in enhancing their experience potential

  • Ability to convey design ideas via sketches, storyboards, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, or animations

  • Fluent in Figma

  • Demonstrated quality storytelling (visual and written) with experience working in a multidisciplinary environment to develop concepts that delight customers and deliver business results

  • Ability to implement strategic and conceptual thinking

  • Demonstrated high-quality design work that also tells a story that you are a deep design thinker

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location.
