Join our growing team as a Senior Technical Product Manager specializing in Application Infrastructure & Communication platforms.

About the Role

As a Technical Product Manager for Application & Communication Services, you will play a critical role in shaping the platforms that underpin customer communications, scheduled jobs, and distributed messaging systems. You will be responsible for defining the product strategy, roadmap, and execution in the following areas:

  • SMS: Develop and enhance our SMS capabilities, ensuring reliable and scalable messaging solutions for various use cases.
  • Email: Define the product vision and roadmap for our email communication platform, optimizing for deliverability.
  • Push Notifications: Drive the strategy and execution for our push notification services, enabling timely and relevant communication across our mobile and web applications.
  • Scheduling Platforms: Build and evolve platforms that empower developers to seamlessly schedule jobs, enabling a wide range of automated workflows.
  • Distributed Messaging Systems: Set direction for the future of how Toast makes use of distributed messaging systems for asynchronous communication across microservices. 


Responsibilities:

  • Define and champion product visions, strategies, and roadmaps.
  • Conduct thorough market research, customer analysis, and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and unmet needs.
  • Translate customer needs and business requirements into detailed product specifications and use cases.
  • Prioritize and manage the product backlog, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and other cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Product Manager with a focus in either internal communications platforms or distributed messaging.
  • Strong understanding of asynchronous messaging, APIs, and integration technologies.
  • Experience with building and managing scalable and reliable platforms.
  • Proven ability to translate customer needs and business requirements into detailed product specifications.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for building innovative and user-friendly communication solutions.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations related to communication services.
