Purpose of the Role:

As we aim to grow our Private Wealth business nationally, we are seeking a highly strategic and relationship-driven Principal Talent Acquisition Advisor to lead the acquisition of top-tier wealth management talent across advisory and client-facing roles.

This is not a traditional recruitment role.

This opportunity is designed for a senior talent acquisition professional who understands the private wealth management landscape, brings deep market expertise, and operates as a true advisor to the business. You will serve as the lead talent partner supporting the growth of our Private Wealth business nationally, helping shape hiring strategy, influence leadership decisions, and elevate Nicola Wealth’s position as an employer of choice within the Canadian wealth management market.

Reporting to the Vice President, Talent Acquisition, the Principal Talent Acquisition Advisor will play a critical role in identifying and attracting exceptional Wealth Advisors, Wealth Planning Associates, Portfolio Managers, and other specialized client-facing talent from across the industry.

The ideal candidate brings strong credibility within the wealth management space, a consultative approach to talent acquisition, and a sophisticated understanding of advisor recruitment dynamics, competitor landscapes, and long-term talent strategy.

Core Responsibilities:

Strategic Talent Partnership

  • Partner closely with senior business leaders to develop proactive hiring strategies aligned to business growth objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership teams on talent market trends, competitor intelligence, and hiring strategy.
  • Lead highly consultative intake discussions focused on long-term team composition, capability gaps, and succession planning.
  • Influence and elevate hiring practices to ensure a thoughtful, high-touch candidate and stakeholder experience.
  • Support workforce planning initiatives tied to national Private Wealth growth, with a focus on advisor and associate hiring strategies that build depth, capability, and long-term talent needs.
  • Co-lead the development of early talent strategies in partnership with the business, building relationships with key post secondary institutions and designing initiatives that create a sustainable pipeline of high potential talent.

Talent Acquisition & Market Engagement

  • Develop and execute targeted sourcing and market engagement strategies to identify and attract passive talent.
  • Build and maintain strong networks within the Canadian wealth management and investment advisory community.
  • Conduct sophisticated candidate assessment focused on technical capability, relationship management style, cultural alignment, and long-term potential.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Nicola Wealth through industry engagement, relationship-building, and talent networking activities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of advisor movement trends, competitive market activity, and talent dynamics across the wealth management industry.

Talent Strategy & Operational Excellence

  •  Partner with People & Culture and Talent Acquisition leadership to evolve recruitment strategies, processes, and talent programs.
  • Leverage data, insights, and market intelligence to drive informed hiring decisions and improve recruitment effectiveness.
  • Contribute to strategic talent initiatives that support business growth and organizational capability.
  • Champion a recruitment experience that reflects Nicola Wealth’s brand, values, and culture
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience, including significant expertise recruiting within private wealth management, investment management, private banking, or financial advisory environments.
  • Proven success recruiting experienced Wealth Advisors, Portfolio Managers, Wealth Planning Associates, or other senior client-facing financial professionals.
  • Deep understanding of the Canadian wealth management landscape and advisor recruitment dynamics
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to build credibility and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, networking, and consultative communication skills
  • Demonstrated success engaging and attracting passive talent within highly competitive markets.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to align talent strategy with organizational growth objectives.
  • Highly proactive, entrepreneurial, and solutions-oriented mindset
  • Experience operating in a high-touch, relationship-oriented recruitment environment
Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a base salary range of $120,000 - $130,000 plus a competitive performance bonus, RRSP contribution and participation in our profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
