The Commerce, Growth & Identity (CGI) organization is dedicated to three business-critical areas at Disney that will help transform its media business. We build innovative and cutting-edge capabilities to drive subscriptions, engagement, and monetization across Disney's streaming and digital products. We enable the wide range of Disney brands to connect and engage with consumers through a unified identity, powered by shared services that are trustworthy and seamless to integrate with.
The Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology (DE&ET) Commerce, Growth and Identity Client Engineering organization delivers experiences across Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Star+ built on a common platform and shared technology. We are fast-paced and fast-growing organization that shares knowledge and code for initiatives throughout Disney! Our mission: Building inclusive user-centered experiences that welcome users, guiding them through a seamless journey from login to sign up, and facilitating effortless account management. As a member on DE&ET Web Commerce team you'll build the core sign-up, purchase, and subscription management experiences of our Web platform.
You will serve as a high level technical resource and "go-to" person, solving sophisticated technical challenges and finding opportunities to improve systems, products, and services!
Responsibilities

  • Work with a distributed team of engineers across multiple organizations building software in a collaboratively
  • Demonstrated ownership for the projects delivered by your team and department
  • Expertise in designing and implementing robust, scalable, redundant platforms, as well as in advocating best practices to fellow engineers
  • Lead through metrics - understand application performance & costs, and push for better results
  • Drive best engineering practices to write well-constructed and easy to maintain code, defensive and robust tests
  • Challenge current architectural choices while collaborating to solve problems in innovative new ways


Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent training or work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge Node.js, React, TypeScript and JavaScript best practices.
  • Proven ability to mentor senior, lead, and principal engineers
  • Strong architectures skills building systems that scale for high throughput and with high availability.
  • Proven ability to learn new technology and/or complex systems
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence, maintaining composure under high-pressure situations and meeting urgent deadlines.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills, able to discuss technical topics clearly and engage in productive technical discussions.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience shipping entertainment/streaming media applications/platforms
  • Proven ability to strategize and implement complex technical changes, share knowledge, and gain support for solutions.
  • Strong track record supporting and mentor engineering managers and executive leaders, fostering trust, setting goals, and offering guidance.


The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA is $184,300.00 to $247,100.00 per year, in New York, NY is $193,100.00 to $258,900.00 per year, and in San Francisco, CA is $201,900.00 to $270,700.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
