We're looking for a Lead Game Developer to join one of our live games, Angry Birds Dream Blast. This is your chance to bring ambitious, complex game features to life, ensuring millions of players enjoy a perfectly smooth and fun experience. In this role you will be responsible for bringing fresh gameplay and live operation features to one of the world's most beloved mobile games alongside your team members helping to steer the new initiatives from concept to launch with confidence and clarity.
In this position, you'll report to our Senior Technical Manager. This position can be located in our Espoo office or our studio in Barcelona. We are able to provide work permit sponsorship if needed, but we are not offering relocation support for this role.
You will have impact and fun at work by:
- Owning and delivering complex features and technical projects from initial technical design all the way to our players' screens with the highest degree of quality.
- Ensuring your solutions are built with a modular, scalable architecture and follow high quality coding practices, which you constantly advocate in your feature team.
- Collaborating closely with design and product crafts, acting as an advocate for the best player experience, thoughtfully challenging requirements and exploring opportunities for innovative improvements.
- Championing the overall technical health and quality of the game, proactively addressing technical debt and ensuring an excellent, high-performing player experience.
- Guiding other developers in the design, implementation and deployment of high-impact solutions, steering the team through complex technical terrain.
- Continuously designing and implementing solutions to level up our current technology and making sure technical debt and major defects in the game are addressed timely.
- Providing empathetic guidance and mentorship to other developers, helping the team to deploy high-impact, stable solutions.
Experience and skills we are looking for:
- You have 10+ years of professional software development experience, with a dedicated focus on game creation, including at least 2-3 recent years in a tech lead role.
- You have successfully delivered Free-to-Play games through all phases—from prototyping and soft launch to live operation—and you have a proven ability to improve the technical architecture of a project over time.
- You have excellent skills in C# programming and the Unity game engine, and understand how to build and optimize for mobile games at scale.
- You're a trusted reference for architectural and design topics, consistently delivering simple, extensible solutions to complex problems by applying core software principles (like SOLID, TDD, and clean architecture).
- You possess a deep understanding of game tech stacks, including how systems interact, and you're committed to understanding our current technology's limitations to devise and implement leveling-up solutions.
- You naturally organize, prioritize, and document technical challenges, capable of autonomously leading the creation of complex technical solutions that are easily understood and adopted by others.
