Job DescriptionAbout Us: Whole Foods Market is the world's leading retailer of natural/organic foods with more than 500 stores in the U.S.A, Canada, and the United Kingdom. 
Position Overview: We are seeking a Principal Change Management Lead to drive and support change initiatives within our Merchandising and Merchandising support. This role will engage cross-functionally with stakeholders across Whole Foods Market and Amazon to develop and implement frameworks, processes, and strategies that enable effective and sustainable change across complex projects for the Merchandising organization.  
Location: This role is based in Austin, TX, with an expectation of five days per week in the Store Support office.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead end-to-end change management for critical business initiatives, including change planning, communication, and stakeholder engagement. 

  • Provide guidance on organizational readiness, change resistance, adoption strategies, and sustainment. 

  • Partner with Merch Enablement Learning and Development (L&D) to identify training needs to support change efforts as it relates to Team Members, process and tools.  

  • Oversee business readiness assessments, resource planning, and program sequencing (workback schedules/key milestones to optimize implementation. 

  • Establish and drive best practices in execution, communication, project management, and performance measurement. 

  • Conduct post-launch evaluations to assess adoption, identify trends, and refine future change strategies. 

  • Deliver clear, concise updates to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency. 

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, implementing contingency plans as needed. 

  • Author detailed change plans documents to obtain leadership buy-in.  

 

Qualifications: 

  • 6+ years of experience in change management, strategic/business planning, or project management within complex organizational environments. 

  • Proven success in leading and implementing change initiatives with measurable business impact. 

  • Ability to design processes or strategies to improve efficiency. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex decisions, trade-offs, and solutions to senior leaders. 

  • Expertise in defining project scope, goals, deliverables, and establishing accountability frameworks (e.g., RACI matrices). 

  • Able to work on complex projects where analysis of situations or data requires a comprehensive evaluation of variable factors. 

  • Experience navigating large retail organizations and collaborating across multiple business functions. 

  • Analytical problem-solving skills with a proactive, results-driven approach. 

  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
