How You Will Achieve it
We are seeking a synthetic chemist to join Pharmaceutical Sciences as a postdoctoral fellow working in collaboration with Chemical Research & Development (CRD) and Analytical Research & Development (ARD) to study the formation of common impurities encountered during API process development. This will be accomplished through a data-driven approach leveraging cutting-edge machine learning workflows.
In this role, you will:

  • Conduct research to explore the impurity landscape encountered during drug development.
  • Collect data for the development of predictive machine learning models
  • Present research work at internal and external meetings and publish in high-impact journals.
  • Contribute intellectually and at the bench to the design and analysis of studies.
  • Collaborate with scientists and team members of various departments
  • Represent Pfizer at scientific conferences by presenting research data.
  • Build team skills and a culture of scientific excellence and continuous learning.
  • Make decisions using technical knowledge under supervision.


Qualifications
Must -Have

  • PhD. in Organic or Analytical Chemistry (or within 3 months of completing Ph.D. program). No industrial experience required.
  • Successful record of scientific accomplishments evidenced by scientific publications and/or presentations with at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal
  • Willingness to make a minimum 2-year commitment
  • No more than 2 years of post-degree experience.
  • State of the art knowledge of modern synthetic methodology, including physical organic chemistry as it relates to reaction mechanism is expected. The ability to employ analytical tools, computational and statistical methodology, and automated laboratory technologies to enhance process development efficiency is desirable.
  • Hands-on experience in HPLC and Mass spectrometry
  • Expertise in structure elucidation and identification of products from complex mixtures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to effectively influence the work of others and a general knowledge of drug development and the pharmaceutical industry are key.

  • Experience in applying machine learning algorithms and using data science workflows to solve problems.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $62,700.00 to $104,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
