About the role

We’re looking for a Platform Performance Engineer to join our Product Platform Engineering team. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of optimizing the reliability and performance of Point’s platform. You’ll identify and resolve system-level bottlenecks, develop tools and frameworks for performance monitoring, and collaborate with product teams to ensure seamless scalability and efficiency across our systems.

This is a highly cross-functional role where your work will directly enhance the stability and speed of the technology that supports Point’s core business.


Your responsibilities

  • Diagnose, analyze, and resolve performance bottlenecks across distributed systems, APIs, and databases.
  • Build and maintain internal tools, frameworks, and dashboards that measure and improve system performance.
  • Collaborate with product engineering teams to design and implement scalable, efficient solutions.
  • Establish and promote performance best practices across the engineering organization.
  • Contribute to improving CI/CD pipelines and observability for faster, more reliable deployments.
  • Participate in and run incident response and conduct root cause analyses with long-term remediation strategies.

About you

  • 5+ years of software or platform engineering experience, ideally in high-performance systems.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g., Ruby, Python, or Go).
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, caching, and database optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with performance profiling, load testing, and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud infrastructure providers.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Compensation at Point will be determined by skills, experience, and geographic location.

  • 133,000 - 176,000 CAD

This does not include any other potential components of the compensation package, including equity, benefits, and perks outlined above. At the launch of each position, we benchmark compensation to the appropriate role and level utilizing competitive compensation data from various data sources as references. At the offer stage, we use the signal we received from our interviews, coupled with your experience, location, and other job-related factors, to determine final compensation.
